On sunny days I go out walking
I end up on a tree-lined street
I look up at the gaps of sunlight
I miss you more than anything

Spring. A season when trees' crowns bloom into beautiful flowery ornaments, breathing life into every shrouded corner of the world. The symbol of the beauty of birth, along with nothing else but rebirth.

However, even such beauty must be tainted by some selfish souls, bathing the calming sights with blood and corrosion. Everything nice has its setbacks, and so hopeful aspirations humans have turned into mere pursuits of slaughtering.

Weakness in the Final Selection is certainly not welcome.  Some people with self issues usually may be willing to help the weak, in order to feel better about themselves, but in this case, it's better to be mindful of their own.

They put their lives at stake, so there's little to no chance they will bother trying to secure a safe heaven for somebody else. Of course, some exceptions can be found. But those kinds of people are usually rare. The world is filled with selfishness.

"Greetings, everyone. We must thank you all for joining the Final Selection tonight. Many demons, captured by none other but our slayers, are kept on this mountain, without the option to leave," a dark haired boy, one of Ubuyashiki's children spoke calmly.

"From the mountain foot to half way up, there are a lot of wisteria trees that bloom all year round. They serve as a demon repellent, not letting them wander past this territory," the other one, a girl with pure white hair explained just as dully. Their eyes swelled with an indescribable feeling, perhaps, amusement even.

"However, from here on out, no more wisteria trees are planted. Only demons await you. If you're able to survive for seven days, then you will rightfully pass the Final Selection. Now, let it begin. We wish you lots of luck," they spoke in unison, bidding the swordsmen some words of slight encouragement. Their empty words didn't help at all though. In fact, it might've had the exact opposite effect on everyone.

Everyone except for some braver souls, that is. Some were filled with determination, some were being driven by anger, whilst some under the influence of higher authority's orders.

Perhaps, it was bound to happen that one individual didn't even care. [Name] observed her peers, silently, as she pondered about the twins' words. Wisteria trees were known for the poisonous effects they had on demons. She, a slayer trained under a great user of this toxin, knew about it very well.
