-Eli-

I just couldn't shake the image of Grayson from my head. I could barely focus on my History quiz because his face kept popping up in my mind. His perfect smile, and his beautiful hair, and oh god his eyes. Sure there were attractive guys at this school, but nobody had the...charm that Grayson did. There was just something about him that was enchanting, and I have no idea what. That's my new mission in life, to solve The Grayson Callihan Mystery.

I commanded myself to focus on my History quiz and lock out any and all thoughts that had to do with him. But for some reason I still found myself connecting every thought I possibly could to him! When was the Civil War? Grayson would probably know the answer. What was the Emancipation Proclamation? I know I'm emancipated, I wonder if Grayson is too. The entirety of my quiz was an endless cycle of actual important stuff and Grayson. I can already tell this is going to develop into some weird obsession.

Finally the bell rang and I could leave that horrible, terrible, annoying, dreadful history class. I walked down the hall towards my Art class and tried to find Elle in the sea of people. I saw her ponytail floating slowly down the hall in the tide of bodies, I quickly started weaving my way through bodies and arms and legs to get to her. Sure we were going to the same class, but who wants to walk to class alone. I did eventually manage to catch up to her and we walked hand in hand into our next class.

I could hear people snickering and giggling as we passed them. There are a select few people in this school that believe my "relationship" with Elle is faked and while they are correct, I can't have everyone in school thinking that. So, the standard protocol for when we hear people snicker or laugh at us is to simply just makeout in front of them. And yes, it is very uncomfortable for the both of us. And I'm sure some people are just genuinely jealous. Why is a guy like that with a girl like her? What kind of German Shepard likes a hyena? Well, that would be me, I am the German Shepard who likes a hyena.

"So, how was your quiz?" Elle said to me as we took our seats in a corner of the classroom.

"I think it went well, I was too distracted to focus," I replied with a chuckle.

"Distracted by who?" she said with a smirk.

"Grayson Callihan," I whispered. Elle's tan face went stark white when I said that.

"Elijah James Henry," she whispered back, "don't you dare get involved with him. Miranda's just going to use him to suck you into her little cult."

"He seems really sweet, not to mention cute," I protested.

"And imagine what would happen if Miranda found out about your...situation," Elle said seriously, "it will be the end of both of us. But it'll be worse for you."

"Who cares what Miranda thinks!" I whisper shouted.

"Everyone," she replied, "in case you forgot, she's the Queen of the School. Everyone cares what Miranda thinks and everyone listens to what Miranda says."

"Ok, but what if we convince Grayson to stop being her friend?" I said.

"They're attached at the hip day and night, three hundred sixty five days a year," Elliot laughed, "good luck with that."

"Maybe she's not as bad as you say she is," I replied with a small frown.

"Nope, Miranda is Satan incarnate. Now let's get started on this project."

Elliot and I barley spoke the rest of the period, of course part of it is because our art teacher is basically a dictator. I just don't know how she could think that Miranda is so horrible, they've never spoke before from what I know. Maybe they use to be friends and they had a falling out. After class, Elliot went off with one of her other friends to her Spanish class while I made my way to the locker rooms. Weight Training was probably my favorite class of the day, and it's not because of all the eye candy.

My weight class was pretty boring today, just some basic lifts. There were a few other guys from the football team in my class, and I made sure to be extra careful when checking them out. Of course, the basic rule of thumb is to just never check anyone out but sometimes I can't help myself. Sometimes I wish I had just chosen to take regular gym with all of the nerds, would save me the trouble of having to worry about a potential boner. But then again, Grayson was probably in regular gym. Maybe it's good I'm not in that class.

The final bell of the school day rang and I left the locker room talking to some guys from the football team. Our season is over, but the majority of us end up trying out for Baseball or Lacrosse this time of year. It's always good to talk to people so you can get an idea on the competition. I met up with Elliot in front of the school like usual and we made our way to my car.

I saw Miranda and Grayson walking ahead of us to the lower lot, I think they walk this way every day. Well...Elle is going to be leaving early from school tomorrow, which means I won't be taking her home, which means I could talk to Grayson and Miranda on the way to our cars tomorrow. It's just a thought, but it could always become a reality.

Elliot and I passed them and we climbed into my car. I thought that I had felt a pair of eyes on me as I climbed into the drivers seat, I looked up onto the sidewalk and made eye contact with Miranda and then Grayson. I fell into a sort of trance for a couple seconds until the two of them went on their way.

I'm glad Elle didn't catch me staring just now.
