NALANI

THEN

The night air is crisp as they find themselves once again on the rooftop, enveloped by the vast expanse of twinkling stars above. The soft rustle of wind accompanies their hushed conversations, creating a serene backdrop to their shared moment of celestial wonder. As they gaze upwards, a sense of peace settles over them, connecting them not only to the stars but also to each other in this tranquil rooftop retreat.

Since Nalani met Eric last week, there hasn't been a single dark cloud in the sky. And since then, not a single negative thought has appeared in her mind. Somehow Eric had enchanted her, his beautiful laugh still echoing in her head and making her body feel the warmth of peace. She longed every second of the day to hear it again.

Since Eric met her last week, he had felt overwhelmed. Overwhelmed in such a good way. He senses emotions in his heart he didn't even know of their existing.
The next day that he woke up in his bed - he could still smell her in his room. Innocent vanilla, mixed with pure flowers, imprinted itself on his memory and made him think of her again and again.
It was the first morning in many years that he woke up with a smile.

He was slightly scared of what this beautiful woman did to him and tried to resist his center begging to please him with her pressence. But however, he couldn't help himself anymore as he saw her Green eyes shimmer like emerald jewels. Green eyes that glow like fresh grass on a sunny day.

They enchanted him in the hallway earlier this morning. She was about to go to work, brushed her hair behind her ears and stopped as she crossed his path. She smilled at him so guiless that his heart beat faster, and gave him the strength to ask her out to meet him this night again.

„Have you ever thought about what the stars would be telling us if they were able to speak?" she tilts her head to the side so she could meet his blue eyes , glowing like the ocean on a calm day - deep, clear, and full of mysteries waiting to be explored.

He waits a few seconds before he answers. „Maybe the stars would tell us about all the adventures and dreams of people they witnessed over the centuries. It would be fascinating to hear their side of the storys. What would you ask the stars if they could talk?"

Her nose squints up, a warm smile borders her lips. „I would ask them what secrets they hold and beg them for their wisdom on heavy days."

Erics interest grows bigger. „What would you wish for if a star could fulfill a dream?" His steady breathes tickle her lips, arousing it with a smell of coffee.

She thinks about his question for a while. Maybe she would wish to see her brother again, that he would come back from wherever he is now and take her in his arms. But it was to early. She did not feel confident enough to trust him with her past, Nalani doesn't want him to think that she is weak. Not yet.

„I would wish to give us our glooming earth back. Fresh flowers spreading their smell every where, high trees that clean our air and gift us shadow. Some pounds and lakes where fishes live, rivers that will make their paths around the whole world, so you could take a boat and see on which adventure you will get taken next. It would be amazing to be in the middle of nature. And you?"

Eric is blown away by her. If someone would have told him a week ago he would be talking about stars, and that he purely enjoyed it, he would be laughing.

Nalani had so much impact on him, she fills his body with light. He could listen to her beautiful voice every second for the rest of his life.

„I would beg them to never let this night end."

Two souls found themselves gazing into each other's eyes. A soft breeze dances around them, beneath a sky adorned with countless stars, carrying with it a sense of serenity and unspoken connection. As their eyes lock, a smile slowly spreads across their faces, radiating pure joy and understanding. In that magical moment, the world seems to hold its breath, captivated by the beauty of their shared smile.

Nalani couldn't help but think that Eric was truly amazing. „How many of them do you think are up there?"

„Hmm.-" his eyes wander to the sky above them again, drifting into his thoughts. „-I don't know, maybe a few billion."

A few billion. Nalani squints her eyes at the deepness of the night.
She enjoys today even more then when they met last week. The first night- they laughed purely like children, in the second night- she feels her soul tie slowly to his.

„I think if the stars would talk I would be afraid." Eric processes and tillts his head back to her.

„Why?" her eyebrows slightly went up, she was curious.

He swallows. „Maybe they would demand me to listen how bad I am as a person, and punish me by never letting me see them again."

She is stunned, unable to find words to articulate his thoughts. He said it with so much pain, Nalani feels sorry for him. The words hang in the air like a heavy mist, causing a profound silence to descend upon them.

„I don't see a bad soul in you Eric." she breaks the stillness after a few passing minutes, staring right into his spirit through her eyes.

The sincerity of those words echo through the air, leaving Eric touched and deeply moved by the rare glimpse into his inner self.

Lost in a whirlwind of thoughts, he couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat as he watches her, admiring her grace and charm. With each passing moment, his thoughts wave a tapestry of affection, realizing that in her company, he had discovered a kindred spirit that stirred emotions he had never known before.

„For you, I would steal the stars."

„You would?" Nalanis eyes flicker full of lights.

„Every single one of them." Eric whispers to her.

And A few billion butterflies fly around in her stomach.
