Maeve's POV
The last few days before the shows in Sydney were pretty busy for Michael, not only because he had lots of appointments but also because his good friend Stevie Wonder was also in town.
So the day before the concert Stevie and Michael went out to some fancy restaurant and Michael wanted me to come.
So here I am, in my hotel room, not knowing what to wear. Out of desperation I found myself knocking at Sheryl's hotel room door.
She opened the door and said "hi Mae-"
"This is an emergency, Sheryl! I'm going out with Michael and STEVIE WONDER, I don't know what to wear, I need help!" I whined and Sheryl only smiled before stepping aside and inviting me inside her room.
I had little over an hour to get ready and Sheryl let her magic work. She helped me with make-up, clothes and shoes. She borrowed me a beautiful red silk dress that was hanging lose from the waist down and stopped at my ankles.
"Isn't it a little too revealing" I motioned to my chest area.
"No, Maeve. You look absolutely stunning!" she assured me.
We combined the dress with some cute gold jewelry and a black purse aswell as black heels.
I only wore little make up but made sure to use red lipstick that was the same shade as the dress.
We finished just in time and I thanked Sheryl for her help.
"Have fun" she smiled at me widely while I walked out the door.
I walked to my room when I noticed Michael coming up the stairs. I found him staring at me and for a second I questioned my look. A wide smile then appeared on his face causing me to take a breath in relief.
I smiled back at him.
"We accidentally match!" he said.
He wore black dress pants with a red dress jacket with gold details on it. He also had a black band on his arm.
He came over to me and hugged me tightly.
"You look stunning, Maeve!"
"Aw, thank you, Michael! You don't look so bad yourself" I answered. "Red really suits you" I added while blushing lightly.
"Thank you, Maeve."
He then held his hand out for me and I gladly took it as he led me down to the front of the hotel where a huge black limousine was waiting for us.
"You've ever been in a limousine?" he asked.
"Of course, Michael. You need to do better to impress me" I said walking past him to Bill who held the door open for us.
"You look beautiful, Maeve" he said.
"Thank you, Bill."
The ride to the restaurant was spent in a comfortable silence. Michael sat directly next to me and when he intertwined our fingers I couldn't help but blush a dark shade of red. At least my face matched the dress.
I looked at him, he was staring out the window, softly stroking his thumb over mine every now and then. I bet he doesn't have a clue what he is doing to me.
"There are paparazzi outside" Bill let us now.
Michael turned to me. "Use your purse to shield your face and whatever happens, don't let go of my hand!" he said looking me directly in the eyes.
Michael's POV
"Ok, Bill. We're ready" I said.
Shortly after the door on my right opened and as soon as I stepped out the flashes started. I was used to it, but Maeve wasn't and I was a little anxious but tried to ignore it. A small crowed of fans were at the other side of the street. I waved and blew kisses at them causing them to scream.
I then held my hand for Maeve to take. She did exactly what we talked about in the car and held her purse the way the flashes came from so they couldn't get a picture of her face.
"MICHAEL, WHO'S THIS?"
"IS THIS YOUR NEW GIRLFRIEND?"
"HEY BEAUTIFUL, ONE SMILE FOR THE CAMERA!"
"ARE YOU USING HIM, FOR MONEY? FOR FAME?"
"MICHAEL PLEASE, ONE PIC OF YOU AND YOUR MYSTERY DATE!"
We soon reached the entry and Bill opened the door. Maeve walked in quickly and I turned around one last time to wave the fans.
"It wasn't as bad as I thought" I told Bill who just nodded.
"Ah Mr. Jackson, it's an honor to have you here today. Mr. Wonder is already waiting for you and your lady. Would you please follow me." We followed the man to the back of the restaurant.
"Since when am I your lady?" Maeve whispered to me and laughed.
"It's a promotion, you don't like it?" I blushed slightly trying to cover the awkwardness with a joke.
"That sounds like more work and less payments" she said.
Ouch.
We then reached the table where Stevie was already waiting for us.
"Stevie!" I said. "It's been too long!"
I hugged him tight. "Michael!"
"Now where's that girl you can't stop talking about?" he said, unfortunately loud enough for Maeve to hear.
"Stevie, stop it, you're embarrassing me!" I held my face in shame.
"I think... well I hope it's me, hello, I'm Maeve" she held her hands out for him to take and when he grabbed them he pulled her close for a hug.
"It's nice to meet you, Maeve!" Stevie said. "You do smell very nice!"
"Thank you" Maeve giggled. "It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm a huge fan!"
"You are? Look at that, Michael finally found a girl with good music taste" Stevie laughed.
Maeve's POV
During dinner Michael and Stevie caught up on each others life. They also talked about people I don't know. Every now and then I recognized a name of some celebrity.
I didn't mind and was carefully listening to them. I had my glas of wine and good food. That's all it needs to make me happy.
Before the dessert arrived Michael excused himself to use the restroom.
"He really likes you, you know" Stevie said.
"He's my best friend" I told him.
"Oh you two will be more than friends when the both of you finally admit your feelings for each other!"
"Michael's my best friend, that's it. Believe it or not" I said.
I know my feelings for Michael and I would lie if I said that I couldn't imagine Michael and I being more than just good friends. But I'm scared he might not feel the same.
"Do you believe that? It sure didn't sound like you do. I can feel a deep connection between you two. Can you look me in the eyes and tell me that you don't feel anything for Michael at all?" Stevie asked.
I kept my head low, not one word leaving my lips. I was far too occupied to think about my feelings.
"See? You can't even lie to a blind man!"
