March 1988 - New York City

Michael's POV

While I prepared for the Grammy's with some of the band members, the rest of the crew including Maeve enjoyed some days off.

Maeve spent these days with Sheryl sightseeing in New York City. She'd always be back when I walked into the hotel suite and take care of me after a busy day.

Today she ditched Sheryl to enjoy the day with me, although I have to get ready for the Grammy's in the afternoon.

We relaxed the whole day and watched movies on the couch but Maeve spent most of the time sleeping while I caressed her growing stomach.

Her had rested in my lap while my hand brushed over her stomach. She rolled back looking at me before stretching her whole body. We didn't have much time left but I wanted her to get as much rest as possible. She works so hard.

"Good morning, beautiful" I told her while caressing her cheek.

She smiled and closed her eyes again. "What's the time?" she asked.

"Nearly four" I told her and her body shot up looking at me with eyes wide opened.

"You let me sleep the whole damn day? Michael, we could've done something more productive" she whined.

"I enjoyed it very much. I got to spent the whole day cuddling with the love of my life and that's more than I could ever ask for!"

"I'm the love your life?" she asked after a short silence.

I grabbed her hand and put it on my chest, just about where my heart is.

"Do you feel that?" I asked and she looked at our hands that were on my chest, nodding slowly before looking in my eyes.

"My heart beats just for you, I love you so much, Maeve!"

She leaned in to kiss me passionately when we suddenly heard the door open and my whole team walks in.

"I guess that's the end of our lazy day" I whispered as she hid her head in my neck.

My make-up and wardrobe team knows about Maeve and I as well as security but they were sworn to secrecy by contract. The rest of the crew didn't know yet but I have a feeling that Sheryl and Jennifer might suspect something because they keep whispering and giggling when I'm around.

"Oh look at the two lovebirds over there" Karen, my makeup artist said.

"You look so cute together. You doing good, Maeve?" she asked and Maeve only nodded.

"Michael, we need you" someone called me and I unwillingly obeyed but not before kissing Maeve one last time.

In the corner of my eyes I saw her talking some more to Karen. I even saw Karen putting her hands on Maeve's stomach.

As I watched them all I could think of was the conversation I had with Karen when we were in Kansas.

"You really like her, don't you?" Karen asked from behind me.

She just finished my hair and was about to start my makeup for the evening.

It was the first show of the second leg. Maeve was really tired today and decided to finish early. Right now she was lying in my dressing room on the couch, sleeping.

I smiled when I looked at her through the mirror.

"You are blushing, Michael" Karen pointed out and we both laughed.

"I'm happy for you, Michael. Maeve is great! I can tell she really cares for you!"

"Can you keep a secret? I've been dying to tell someone!" I whispered.

"Everybody knows that she's pregnant, Michael! And I figured it out myself that it's yours" she laughed at me.

I smiled and shook my head. "No, not that." I opened a drawer and grabbed the small velvet box and opened it just for Karen to see.

"OH MY-" she held her hands infront of her mouth because she was so loud. She didn't want to wake Maeve up.

When she calmed herself she put her hands down and admired the beautiful simple engagement ring I chose for Maeve.

"Oh my god, Michael! It's a beautiful ring, Maeve'll love it!"

"You don't think it's too early?" The reason I haven't asked Maeve yet is because I thought it's too soon but I really want us to be a family when our little miracle arrives.

Karen shook her head. "No, you and Maeve, you're not the typical couple. You guys made a baby before admitting your feelings towards each other. You just do things differently but that doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong if it feels right for the both of you!"

Karen was right. Our love story started in the middle and some might think we're crazy but this is our 'normal'.

*present*

I felt the box in the pocket of my pants. I haven't decided yet when and where I wanted to ask her. I want it to be perfect! I looked over at her, she was laughing at something Karen said. She looked so beautiful, even though she just woke up.

Karen then got back to work and left Maeve be.
Whenever I get ready or work Maeve patiently waits for me without making drama. I've had relationships where the girls would get frustrated every time I had to leave or needed more time to finish rehearsals but Maeve tries not to interfere with my career and it makes me happy that I don't have to choose.
