Maeve's POV

While Michael was in Japan I spent some time with Janet who volunteered to help me with Nicolas when Anna had her day off.

"So, tell me, Maeve!" Janet demanded as her grip on the coffee mug tightened.

I was just feeding Nicolas his lunch while Janet enjoyed a nice cup of coffee.

"Tell you what?" I giggled.

"You and my brother. Do you guys still want to get married? Maeve, the whole family is wondering what's going on! You're relationship is not easy to keep up with."

I stopped with Nicolas' spoon in one hand and the bowl with his food in the other.

"I..." I sighted deeply before looking down at the floor. "I don't know if he still wants me to be his wife. If done him dirty." I confessed.

"I know, Maeve but Michael was never angry at you. He knew it wasn't you who was talking!" Janet tried to make me feel better.

"Have you never talked about the wedding?" She then asked and the only thing I could do was shake my head, no.

Nicolas interrupted my thoughts by hitting the table with his hands and noises that sounded like complaints left his mouth.

"I know, you're starving" I smiled at him before continuing feeding him.

"He kissed me though" I told her.

"A few days ago when we had a picknick under the giving tree. It was a beautiful kiss but we got interrupted, unfortunately" I added while Janet was listening carefully to every word and when I was finished she just stared at me.

"Do you still want to be his wife?" She asked after a while.

I smiled lightly. "I'd love to but..."

"But what, Maeve? Just ask him. What's the worst that can happen?"

I thought for a moment but again was interrupted by my son.

"Ah babababa" he said and I pretended to understand what he was saying.

"I know, she's right" I said looking in his big brown eyes, that looked just like his father's, as he smiled widely at me.

"I'm always right!" Janet shouted.

In fact I was really happy to have Janet on my side, she visited me nearly every week at the clinic although I'm not sure it wasn't because Michael asked her to.

However Janet is the one person I let in on my secrets and right now I was hiding something from Michael but I wasn't ready to tell him... yet.

Michael's POV

To my luck the shows in Japan went by quick and I was happy to be back on my way home to my family.

Family.

A word I thought, I wouldn't be using this fast again after all that we've been through. But now that Maeve is doing better I have faith that soon it'll be back to the way it was before. Except the fact that Maeve relies on a wheelchair .

Touring has been exhausting so far and touring without Maeve was even worse but now that the car drove past the gates of Neverland my mood lightened significantly.

I was surprised to see the lights still on since it's in the middle of the night and when I entered the house the smell of Maeve's lasagna hit my nose.

I wasn't sure if I could trust my senses at this late hour, however, my feet still carried me in the direction of the kitchen where Maeve was already waiting for me.

The table was set for two and her famous lasagna was in the center.

"Welcome home Michael!" she smiled when she saw me.

******

"Wow, this lasagna was the best you've ever made!" I told her as I finished my last piece.

"I'm so proud of you!" I added making her cheeks turn red.

"Thank you. I wanted to quit 3 times though" she laughed.

We fell into a comfortable silence as we stared at each other. I then remembered the day she told me she was pregnant with Nicolas, which happened to be in this kitchen.

"What are you thinking of?" I heard her asking.

"You stood there" I pointed to the radio in the kitchen before continuing. "When you told me you were pregnant."

Maeve looked over to the spot. She didn't say anything for a little while and I thought maybe I said some wrong.

When she looked back at me her eyes were a little teary. "Can I ask you something?"

"Anything" I told her and put both my hands on my chest.

She hesitated before moving her wheelchair around the table to be directly in front of me. I turned my body to face her. When I looked down at her lap where her hands waited for mine and as soon as our hands touched she squeezed mine.

"I am so grateful for everything you've done for me. Before and after the accident." She looked directly into my eyes while talking softly. Her eyes were still teary and she was at the very brim of crying.

"And I know I haven't been fair to you and that I probably don't deserve this but I-" she was interrupted by the tears falling down her cheek.

With one hand I let go of hers to wipe them away and as my hand was on her cheek she put one of hers on top of mine.

"Michael" she whispered, her voice was weak and unsteady.

"Yes?" I asked carefully, wondering what was going on in her beautiful mind.

"If I could, I would go down on my knees and beg you but I'll probably wouldn't get up again so I won't" she joked between tears.

Her expression then became serious again as she stared into my eyes.

"Michael, will you marry me?"

Her eyes stayed glued at mine as they waited for any kind of reaction. To be honest I was a little taken aback because all this time since the accident I wasn't sure if Maeve still wanted to get married but I now have my answer.

With each passing second it took me to answer, her expression became more and more worried.

I looked at her, her eyes still glued at mine and her cheeks wet from all the tears.

My mouth turned into the widest smile one could imagine and I felt her relief.

"Yes, Maeve! I'd be honored to marry you!"
