Midsummers pt 2

Once the Pogues left Midsummers they had taken the HMS Pogue to the Twinkie and rode to Rixon's Cove to talk. Cicadas could be heard chirping as the 5 friends sat around a fire that the boys started.

"Hey, guys. So, like, my dad's already gonna kill me. So what's this mandatory meeting about?" Pope asked JJ and John B.

"Might as well tell him, man, before we're gaffed." JJ said. "Gaffed?" Sky questioned.

"You ready for this?" John B asked."Yeah." Kie answered after the boy turned her way.

"So, the gold never went down with the Royal Merchant." John B started.

"Oh, my God. Here we go again with this." Pope said annoyed with the topic already. "No. All right, wait. Hear him out, all right?" JJ said to Pope.

"It's been here the whole time." John b said calmly. "It's on the island."

"Are you serious?" Sky ask.
"Oh, my god." Kie exclaims.
"I'd like to voice my skepticism." Pope says to John B.

"I'm sure you would, Pope." He said getting up. "But can I please present you with my evidence, sir?"

"Proceed."

"All right. So, in my backpack, I have a letter from Denmark Tanny." John B starts till Kie interrupts him.

"Who the hell's that?"

"Denmark Tanny was on the Royal Merchant." Sky said, in a tone that made it sound like Kie should know this.

"Yes. Correct Ms.Woods." John B said to the girl. "Though I'm not gonna ask how you know that already."

"Kook school, bro." The girl shrugged.

"But not only was he on the Royal Merchant, he survived it. Check this out." He said handing Kie the letter he had. "Okay, slaves weren't mentioned as crew members on the ship, but my dad, he found the complete manifest. That was his big discovery."  Kie passed the letter to Skyler to read next. "So Tanny used the gold from the Merchant to buy his freedom. After that, he bought his farm. Drumroll, please, because that farm is..." John B paused for a dramatic moment as the girls started drumming on their legs for sound effect. "Tannyhill Plantation." He finally said.

"Tannyhill?" Both of the girls questioned in shock.

"Yeah. So, after that, he used his money to free even more slaves, and then he sold a shit-ton of rice, which pisses off all the white planters, and then they decide to lynch him." The last part of the sentence had caught all of the teens attention and during the quietness Skyler passed the letter to Pope next.

"So on the day they were coming to get him, he writes a letter to his son as a farewell, and in the last line of that letter, he leaves a coded message about where to find the gold." John B says while walking up to Kie. "Where?" She ask with a big smile on her face. "Harvest the wheat in parcel nine, near the water. Except...there's no wheat. You see, wheat is code for gold. Check this out."
John B walks over to Pope who currently had the letter and flashes his light on the letter while explaining.

"The gold is in parcel nine, near the water."

Kiara, Skyler, and Pope all started chuckling after hearing the brunette boy talk about the gold.

"All we need is an original survey map of the property, and we've found the gold." John B announces to his friends.

"Okay, so this might have a small chance of being actually true." Pope says as his doubts start washing away.
