Travis's pov
I heard the door click shut as I examined my outfit. I noticed Emile standing behind me in the mirror. She tapped her cheek in thought, "That's too formal for a get-together, lose the button-up" she instructed.
I groaned, "Why must you take it upon yourself to be my fashion advisor?" I questioned. She smiled, " Y'know that's not too bad of an idea, we'll go shopping tomorrow,"
I opened my mouth to object, I didn't like the local mall, not one bit. "You have to invite Sal of course," I gave her a bewildered look as I took off my shirt. "No! You'll scare him away before we even make it official," I began to dig around in my closet looking for anything that wasn't a sweater or formal wear.
She put her hand to her hip before responding, "So all of his friends, his dad, his stepmom, and his stepbrother have been around you enough to form conscious opinions on you but I don't even get to meet him?" She questioned, annoyance dripping from her tone.
I pulled a plain white T-shirt over my head before I turned back towards her. "Oh my God, fine" I gave in. She smiled innocently as I glared at her.
I gestured to my shirt, "Is this any better?" I questioned. She hummed and nodded her head approvingly. "Now hurry up, you've got like fifteen minutes," She warned.

I knocked on Sal's door before hesitantly opening it. He had told me to come to his apartment beforehand but he was nowhere in sight and the apartment was quiet.
"Sal?" I called as I stepped further in, softly shutting the door behind me. "I'm in here" he yelled from the bathroom.
I pushed on the door that was already slightly ajar. He stood in front of the sink washing his face.
When he pulled away from the faucet he used a hand towel to dry himself before pulling on the shirt that was spread lazily across the counter.
"Are you ready? I just need to get my shoes on," he said as I followed him to the door.
By the time we made it into the hallway, we were already ten minutes late. I began to feel nervous as we stepped into the elevator, Sal grabbed my hand and rubbed it reassuringly. "Calm down, it's gonna be fine," he murmured in my ear.
I sighed and squeezed his hand as we neared Todd's apartment. Sal left a loud knock on the door before pushing his way in with me trailing behind him.
My nose wrinkled as I was hit with the harsh smell of weed and incense. "Todd!" Sal called out as we made it to the end of a narrow hallway he pushed the door open.
Todd was sitting on his bed with Neil tucked against the wall beside him. Larry was spinning around in a black chair, and there was no sign of Ashley. I lingered in the door for a moment, unsure if I was allowed in.
"What're we gonna watch?" Sal asked as he pulled me into the room. "I don't know, man, Ash usually picks and she had something come up" Larry responded.
"I think she said she had to babysit," Neil added. Sal nodded his head before pulling me over to the duvet that was spread across the floor. After I sat down he turned around, "I'm gonna go get us some popcorn and drinks" he said as he walked toward the door.
Larry stood up, "I'll help you carry them," he said as he stretched his arms above his head.
The door swung shut behind them and I was left in awkward silence with Todd and Neil.
Better now than later, I told myself as I hesitantly turned around to face them. Their eyes flickered to me, "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for how I trea-"
Todd put up a hand to silence me, "I'm not one for apologies, I can see that there was an explanation for your behavior and that you're trying to do better and that's all that matters," he spoke.
Neil nudged him, "You shouldn't interrupt people when they're trying to be nice to you," Neil mumbled in Todd's direction.
"Wish I cared," Todd responded while adjusting his glasses. Neil rolled his eyes at the ginger before turning back to me. "What kinda movies do you like, Travis?"
"Uh...I like anything but Action and Horror" I replied dryly. Todd gave Neil an amused look, before looking back at me, "Horror is pretty much the only thing Sal and Larry watch" he explained as I frowned.
They walked through the door holding five cups and three bags of popcorn. Sal and Larry disrupted them before they found their seats again.
Sal began to look through the stacks of DVDs on the TV stand. I spotted a movie called, 'The Pursuit of Happyness', which my mother had watched a lot when I was little.
"We should watch this," I said as I tapped my finger on it. Sal shook his head, "No, we should watch 'The Amityville Horror' That movie is boring," he said gesturing to the DVD that I now had in my lap.
"You know I don't like horror," I whined. "This one isn't even that scary, just give it a try," he said with an amused smile. "No! I'll have nightmares for weeks,"
"It's okay you can stay at my house for the next month, I'll keep you safe with" He joked. "Sal you're like two feet tall, shut up," Larry said whilst laughing.
"This is based on a true story," I said as I held it up. "So is this!" He retorted. "Oh god, that's just going to make my paranoia so much worse,"
I sighed before I turned towards the rest of the group, "What do you guys want to watch?" I questioned.
Larry groaned and let his head fall back against the headrest of the spinny chair, "Mom and Dad are fighting again,"
"Who's who?" Sal questioned in amusement. "I feel like you'd be the mother," Todd pointed at me. I felt my face flush as I turned back towards the TV. "I give up, just put it on" I grumbled.
