Agust stood on the edge of the rooftop of a building, adjacent to the one that the object of his recent fascination dwelled. It was a moonless night and without any streetlights illuminating the area, he was well hidden, even out in the open like this. The wind was definitely stronger up this high and were he a mortal man standing here, dressed the way he was, he would have been chilled. But things like temperature no longer affected him; a small perk of having to walk the thin line between the living and the otherwise.

When he had left his home impulsively earlier, he had no plans. All he could think about was that he wanted to be where this woman was, to see what she was doing, and to just observe her, as she went about her evening. He definitely didn't plan on playing the role of a gargoyle, but here he was, doing just that. As he scanned the interior of this enticing woman's apartment, desperate to get a glimpse of her, a small voice in the back of his mind pointed out, "This is called stalking. You are stalking right now."

He told the unhelpful voice in his head to shut the fuck up as he moved along the ledge to get the best vantage point. Once he had found the spot best suited for watching her, he lowered himself down until he was seated on the ledge, with his feet dangling in the open air. In all honesty, there was a part of him that felt guilty about watching this woman without her knowledge. However, each time he felt the pang of guilt in his gut, he reminded himself that she was the first to place surveillance equipment in his home without his knowledge or permission and him being here was merely a turnabout.

As Agust watched for any signs of life on the inside, the chilled night air carried a faint yet unmistakable scent of his woman, his Valkyrie. When his nose caught the delectable scent on the wind, he felt a sudden rush of adrenaline filling his veins. His skin prickled with awareness as the baser side of him grumbled, urging him to satiate his unfulfilled needs. He took a hard swallow and closed his eyes, as he tried to rein in his all-too-enthusiastic manhood. Once his overzealous cock had settled down, he took a deep breath and refocused his attention on finding any movement in the apartment.

From his precarious perch, he had a pretty good view of the layout of the interior through huge, floor-to-ceiling windows lining one side of her abode. Most of the interior was immersed in darkness, save for a room that he would have labeled as a library. The room featured built-in bookshelves that stretched all the way to the ceiling. The library also came equipped with a sliding ladder that was placed on the side of the room where the ceiling was vaulted, and the built-in bookshelves stretched up much higher.

Even though the room was relatively well lit, it looked empty; no sign of life that he could see. Until he got a glimpse of the mystery woman materializing out of one of the built-in bookshelves lining the walls of the entire room. Thoroughly puzzled by the phenomenon, Agust rose from his seat on the rooftop ledge and relocated to another part of the roof, where he could get a better view of the library. From his new perch, he had a much better view of the bookshelf she had walked out of. Even though he still couldn't see into the space fully, he was able to get a glimpse of a hidden chamber, through a doorway between two bookshelves lining the walls. Agust thought, "What kind of a person has a secret room within a room in their apartment? Could that be a panic room? Why would she need a panic room in the first place?"

With his curiosity fully piqued, Agust focused his mind on his eyes to increase his visual acuity – another perk of straddling the line between the mortal and the immortal realm – and fixed his sight on the interior of the hidden room. Unfortunately, even from his new vantage point, he only saw a small sliver of the said room. However, from what he could see, the room in question was very brightly lit. In fact, the light that was illuminating most of the library was spilling forth from the hidden room. Agust also noted that the wall opposite the entrance was covered in various electronic equipment, monitors, and other things that seemed extremely technical and highly specialized.
