I stood at the head of the table next to Rhaenys. To my left Jace and Vaenya. And standing next to Rhaenys Vaenera and Baela. "I see no other choice mother. We need to send a dragon.", Jace told me. "We shall make no haste decision. Especially without the Queen.", I stated.

"Where?", a voice questioned. My head shot up as my eyes met my wife's. Relief hit me as I saw her walk into the room. "To support the war that your vassals have been fighting in your absence, Your Grace.", Jacaerys answered with a hint of anger. "Jace.", Vaenya whispered.

"Coles host has grown since riding abroad. He raised the levies of both Rosby and Stokeworth, and with their combined strength sacked Duskendale.", Rhaenys said. "Duskendale?", a Darklyn questioned. "The city has fallen.", Lord Corlys answered. "Many Darklyn men declared for Aegon. Out of fear. And those who refused put to the sword.", I finished.

"What of my father?", he asked. "He kept his oath. And Cole took his head for it.", I answered. "Where have you been, these last few days? You vanished without so much as a word.", Jace asked. I walk over to the other side of table needing to be near Rhaenyra.

As I walk over she immediately grabs my hand holding it tightly. "Well, I apologize for my absence and the secrecy. But such was necessary. I went to Kings Landing.", Rhaenyra said. "To what possible end?", Jace questioned. "To meet Queen Alicent and sue for peace.", Rhaenyra spoke.

"You saw Alicent?", Jacaerys asked. "Yes, I did.", Rhaenyra replied. "You could've been taken or slain. Why would you allow her to do such thing, Aaliyah?", Jacaerys questioned. "Your mother is a queen as am I. She thought it'd be best to speak with Alicent. If they even laid a hand on her I would've gone down there myself to kill them all.", I answered. Rhaenyra slowly rubbed my hand and I feel myself calm down.

"I inherited 80 years of peace from my father. Before I was to end it I needed to know there was no other path. And now I do. Only one choice remains to me: either I win my claim or die.", Rhaenyra said. "We stand at the ready.", Jacaerys stated.

"Coles victories have only emboldened him. He marches on Rooks Rest.", Rhaenys said. "His host was just hours away when Lord Stauntons ravens took wing.", Lord Corlys added. "Why Rooks Rest? After Duskendale? It is but a small keep.", Rhaenyra said. "Cause Lord Staunton is a member of this council. And because his castle is small and vulnerable for the taking.", a voice answered.

"Cole knows we have no army on the mainland. But we have dragons.", I said. "He is brazen.", a man said. "He is daring us to act.", Vaenera stated. "We need to send a dragon.", Jace said. "There are those who have mistaken my caution for weakness. Let that be their undoing. I will go.", Rhaenyra spoke.

"My Queen.", Lord Corlys said. "Rhaenyra no.", I said. "You cannot.", Jace finished. "I will not lose dragons to war whilst I hide in my castle.", Rhaenyra told everyone. "Our allies raise their banners for you, Mother.", Jace said.

"Yes they do.", Rhaenyra stated. "If you die, all is lost! Send me.", Jace yelled trying to reason with Rhaenyra. "No.", Rhaenyra said. "I will burn Coles lines and withdraw before Kings Landing could even raise the alarm...", Jace said. "You lack experience.", Rhaenyra said cutting him off.

"You must send me, Your Grace. Meleys is your second largest dragon. No stranger to battle. I will meet Cole.", Rhaenys said speaking up. Rhaenyra looked at her with a small nod.

As I walked in the room with Rhaenyra following behind me. I go to turn to her when she immediately kisses me. I slowly pull away. "I just need a few moments of peace please.", she whispered. "I'll do more that Nyra.", I stated pulling her lips back into mine.
