Kindly vote. It doesn't you a cost for doing such a small thing but it will definitely make my day. Try to keep yourself in my place and think how frustrating it is to see such lack of engagement.
Secrets and lies. Be careful in your steps as the truth is powerful this time. Secrets and lies find no place to hide; the truth has taken over the town.
Thirsty as though I am in a desert, our happiness clinging together, whisper to us. Like the howling wind of the night. Music blares from the speaker, tiny drops splatter on the window of the car. I cut the music as the cryptic words echo, settling heaviness in my chest.
Reyansh throws a curious glance at me, and I just shrug my shoulders as if I didn't have my spine upright a minute ago. I again slouch against the leather. "Did you get any lead?"
"Didn't Tavir fill you in?"
I bite my lip in a wincing manner. He has sharp eyes and ears, even if he is not present at the scene. "I hardly saw him today, maybe busy running your errands."
"Nothing. Just some fucking dead-end pissing me off." He curses after every word, and I know the situation is petty. The number of guards around Rayer and near both houses has increased, and Veer is enjoying his vacation due to this.
"What about John? Did you find out if he is innocent?" I lean a little over the seat.
He hums, "He is off the hook for now, but I can't leave him alone. So, he is kept under house arrest."
I don't remark on it. As he knows his business better than me, I quit my probing and focus on the tiny drops passing by us. "It's raining." I turn to him, showing him my wet palms.
"Rains in winter," he grumps, wrinkling his nose, as though it was the most unexpected happening of nature. It rains in winter. What's the big deal? He hates surprises, I guess. But he loves to come up with one for others.
"It doesn't usually. Hasn't happened in the past five years." I muse, rolling up the window when the chilly wind brings phantoms of goosebumps on my bare arm. "It is the first rain of the year." I chirp. He nods, focusing on the driving. He is awfully detached, behaving like he is holding himself back. But from what?
Is it because of showing the photo albums of Veer?
Then again, he has been acting like that for the past few hours. I shake my head lightly to get my thoughts straight because it can be just a misreading on my part. I focus back on the passing greenery, isolated from any human pedestrian, with just cars running down the road.
Rain. The earthly smell. Sweeping coldness and you want a—
"Can we stop at any corn shop?" I ask him.
His eyes flit to the mini-screen. "Corn at almost one in the night?"
"It is raining," I point out.
He rolls his eyes. "It's not raining. It's a light drizzle."
