I wanted to visit the rooftop again

I wanted to visit the rooftop again. I knew I needed the night breeze to clear my mind but the possibility of finding Yena there was preventing me from going.
I know it's not Yena's fault that my crush likes her but I can't help, I'm jealous and hurt. Seeing her might make me even more hurt and I clearly do not want that.

Nonetheless, I crossed my fingers and slipped out of my room.

But I wasn't the luckiest. I squinted my eyes, meeting the familiar silhouette standing all alone on the roof. She turned her head to me as soon as I stepped there.

I don't know whether it's the quiet ambience or her observation skills that make it so easy for her to notice my presence when I hardly let it be known to her.

But even when I despised the whole scenario and the person who was included in the it, I found myself sitting beside her in no time with only the soft sound of wind blowing past us.

None of us dared to break the silence which was slowly fading into rhythm of our breathing and the slightly hearable heartbeat. The sky was empty, even the moon was hiding behind the dark clouds. Like how us humans try to hide behind our grudges to stop engaging with people who might need us.

"Miso..." Just like the last time, it was Yena to break the silence. "I talked to Riki, and asked him about you. Only the mention of your name made his ears flush red." She laughed while I blankly stared at her, "I believe he likes you."

You're wrong with your beliefs, Yena. He didn't blush on the mention of me, his ears flushed red because you talked to him. It's not me who he likes, it's you.

I mentally scoffed at how clueless she looked but shook my thoughts away.

"Why... are we suddenly talking as strangers after...all these years?" I asked slowly, even when I somehow already know.

She remained silent for sometime before drawing a long breath. "Because... uh, strangers know nothing about each other's past or present?... If we pretend to be strangers, I think we can talk freely and forget everything that had happened between us or... maybe it's because I just want to build our relationship all over again."

I felt a pang of empathy tucking at my heartstrings as I waited for her to continue because I couldn't say anything, I was at a total loss of words.

"I just miss how we were 10 years ago, I've always watched you from afar. I may have a lot of friends but the friend that I want the most still stands away from me."

I balanced my heavy chemistry and physics books along with some other stationary on my arms, and headed towards the library. Any of my free periods are already reserved by that place.

I ignored everyone in the library and went straight to my usual seat, which is almost at the end of the library.

I slightly gasped and stumbled behind a little, seeing someone already sitting where I sit. I quickly sucked a breath of relief when I recognized the tall boy, it was Riki. Gosh, he scared me!

Both of his hands were folded down on the table and he was leaning towards it with his head resting on top of his hands.

I approached him with hushed feets and saw he was sleeping peacefully. His eyes were slightly covered as his dark brown lock of hairs sat messily scattered across them.

I slowly took a seat beside him and leaned a little closer to him as I rested my head on my elbow. The mole on his chin, his puffed cheeks and pink lips that formed a pout made him look so innocent, so adorable, so serene. He's only a human at the end of the day, he isn't completely flawless but even his flaws are beautiful to me.

I sighed, only if he knew how deeply I'm in love with him..

Sometimes when I'm with him, I wonder what if the words he randomly says to me that make my heart skip a bit everytime aren't only part of his jokes but his true feelings? What if his lies are only truth deep down and he means every single thing he has said to me all this time?

But I also know he doesn't... but then the innocent hope blooms inside of me, what if he does?

I quickly moved back when he shifted in his sleep. I could hear him groan slightly before his eyes began to flutter open.

His eyes landed on me as soon as they opened. He blinked, "Miso...?"

His innocent face wasn't matching a bit with his deep voice. The way his drowsy eyes stared at me caused a hint of pink tint to cover up my cheeks.

He sat up straight and brushed his hairs off his eyes before shifting his gaze on me again. "I was waiting for you to show up. Wait, are you sick? You look so red." His brought his hands closer to my cheeks as he softly stroke them, "you're heating up too."

"It's... uh, nothing." I nervously chuckled, pulling his hands away. Dang, now I know I've become redder.

He nodded, not looking content at all. He kept on staring at him quietly as I found myself holding my breath.

Boy, stop already.

"Uh, why are you here? I mean--"

"I told you already, I was waiting for you. You didn't show up yesterday when I asked you to go out with me, so I thought I'd treat you with spring rolls. Wait." He bent down and picked up a paper bag from the ground.

How did I not happen to see it? He has no right to make me blush every freaking second like that--

"Let's eat together, just like how I imagined." He stared to unwrap the spring rolls.

"Here? This isn't a place to have snacks, Riki."

"Then let's make it such a place, Miso." He handed me one spring roll and kept the other one to himself. "Here, dip it in the sauce. It tastes better with it."

I can't win against him and that's for sure. I shook my head in defeat and started to chew down on the snack with him by my side.
