"Why don't you approach her directly?" I chewed on the garlic bread as Riki sat beside me, admiring the flowers of our school garden

"Why don't you approach her directly?" I chewed on the garlic bread as Riki sat beside me, admiring the flowers of our school garden. He might even pick some for Yena, eh.

It's been a week since Riki asked me to help him with Yena and now he knows the 8 year old her like the back of his hand but is still oblivious of 18 years old Yena.
And throughout the week, unexpectedly we both grew close and the school garden became the place where we spend most of our time together.

He sometimes even randomly flirts with me and a little secret... I fell even harder for him, too hard to ever love someone else.

"I told you, the usual language barrier between us two." He shrugged, looking at me.

I opened my mouth with hesitation, "Then... why don't you learn it for her? You like her so much after all."

"Learning a whole damn language just for a girl? ain't my thing." He shrugged again as I stopped eating.

Bro's mood changes so fast, wasn't he just so eager a week ago?

"But..." I trailed off, lost in finding appropriate words. I felt something slipping from my hand as I looked down and found Riki pulling the garlic bread.

I widened my eyes when he took a bite from it, right from where I ate a second ago. Does that count as an indirect kiss--?

"If I can manage a korean school without bothering to learn the language then I can manage girls too." He winked.

I only blinked and looked away, feeling my heart that was rapidly beating for him and him only. I'm so whipped for him, eh.

"Uff, the bread's just chef's kiss!" I looked back at him and we made an eye contact. His lips curled up into a smirk. Okay, he's about to flirt. I just know. "It tastes even better because we shared it, my lips were where once your lips were."

I choked on my own saliva even though I was already expecting him to say something like that. I quickly snatched the bread from him and smacked his head really hard.

"You also want to have your lips right where my lips were?" He teased me again.

Also? Yes-- No!

"You're such a playboy! Why are you flirting with me when you already like another girl?"

"So what? We hot, we young." He sang. Lord, his deep voice!

"I have a plan, does your cousin write diaries? How about we steal it for a day and you know--"

"Nope, that's invasion of privacy. I wouldn't allow anything like that." I cut him off giving him a serious look.

"But Miso..." He pouted, showing me his boba eyes. Those eyes were as sharp as a knife a second ago, I can swear!

-

My eyesbrows furrowed upwards when I heard an unknown voice talking to my parents from outside the door. I rested my ear on the door, trying to recognize the voice.
I sighed before finally opening the door of my house.

As soon as I stepped inside, the heads of my parents and an unknown man, who I barely recognized, turned to me.

My father forced out a smile, a fake one,
I could tell, "Meet Kim Jun, your finance. Mr. Kim, meet my daughter."

My face turned pale as my breathing got intense. I clenched my fists at the sight of the man, I'll kill him and if necessary, my father too.

That guy eyed me up and down as he smiled. Heck, I hate to call those ugly wrinkles of his face even a smile. "She's pretty, Mr. Ahn."

I glared at him with hatred before scoffing as I started to walk towards my room.

'Ahn Miso!" My father's usual firm voice loudly echoed through the house and it did made me flinch but I didn't stop.

It was the first time I went against my father's command and it clearly surprised him as he didn't try to stop me again.

"I'll go get her, Mr. Ahn." I heard that shitty scumbag's voice but I didn't stop, I kept walking.

My hands reached the doorknob but my other hand got pulled by someone. Rage arose in me when I saw it was that piece of shit.

"Don't touch me!" I snapped, pushing his hands off me.

"Oh, playing hard to get? Don't worry, you'll eventually fall in love with me. I can get you everything you want, all your desires." He raised his hands to caresse my cheeks, leading me to slap his hands away.

"Just you dare force me for anything!"

"It's not me who's forcing you, it's your father." He smirked when I fell silent.

Yes, it's him. None of these would happen to me if it wasn't for my father.

I glared at him one last time before I shut the door of my room right on his face.

But when I met the darkness and emptiness of my room, my brave facade crumpled down into ashes. The familiar sense of vulnerability encircled me as my figure fell down, meeting the coldness of the marble floor.

I hugged myself and before I could prepare myself, I was already sobbing.

I cried until it got hard to breathe. That's when I wiped my tears, and grabbed my diary to pen down my feelings as I held the pen tighter than I usually do,

The only man that's supposed to protect me from strangers is the one wanting me to spend my whole life with a stranger.

I'm 18, it's the age where I get to live my life to the fullest. Fall in love, make friends and get in trouble together, make fun memories while I live for myself. After all it's my youth but I'm forced to fold myself for another man. I'm forced to marry someone.

Forget about marrying now or later, I don't want to get married until I know I've become someone with her own identity.
I want to live for myself.

I'll get married when I want to, at a time which I believe is right.

But definitely, not right now.
