It was night time and as Kim Jun said, his father came to meet my father. He was silently sitting beside my father right now, making my father and me both glance over him anxiously.
"Mr. Ahn," He finally spoke up in a grave tone, "I believe the marriage of your daughter and my son should be called off. I realized how big of a mistake we were committing while agreeing to marry off two minors. I hope you understand it, too."
"What? Are you implying that we must cancel the marriage?" My father asked in disbelief.
"That's what I said. I'd suggest you let your daughter talk to you about this, just like how my son did. I assure I'll be always there to help you with anything and the marriage isn't necessary for it. Let our kids live their youth." Mr. Kim smiled and got up to leave.
I sighed when Kim Jun's father left the place. My eye flickered towards my father to understand the emotions displaying on his face.
But before he could say anything, an unexpected voice interrupted the silence."Hyung, what's all this?" I instantly recognized the voice and so did my father. And we were beyond surprised to hear it talk to us after 10 years. It was Yena's father, my uncle.
He walked downstairs and stood in front of my father. "I know we haven't talked for years and you hate me for everything but how could you even decide to marry Miso without letting us know? Do you think she's only your daughter? She's my daughter too and I care for her as much as you do."
"Gyungho, go away. I don't want to talk to you." My father responded, hatred lacing through his each word. But I couldn't blame him.
"But we need to talk. We need to clear each and every misunderstanding and let go of all the grudges we've been holding." Through the corner of my eyes I could see both of their eyes getting watery. I felt my heart clenching at the sight.
"That night when you heard I've excluded you out of our business shares and was planning to take over the whole business. Why didn't you confront me? How could you have believed that?" Yena's father continued.
"No, it wasn't that." My father choked on his words, "it wasn't what made me hate you. It was you saying that as someone who doesn't has a son, I don't deserve to be with you. It was you saying that once I die, there will be no one to look after Miso."
"Hyung..." Uncle slowly grabbed my father's shoulders, "Do you really think I could've said such a thing? I can't even think of all of it. I've always loved Miso and you, we're a family."
"Then what about everything I heard from others? Don't be ridiculous!" My father jerked off his hands.
I cupped my face with my hands and found myself sobbing. That's... what happened between us? All of the betrayal, harsh words, hidden feelings and everything else unveiled in front of me suddenly and I wasn't able to take it. I felt broken.
I looked up when a pair of arms wrapped around me. My sobs came even louder when I saw it was Yena. "Shh, I'm with you." She whispered, allowing me to hold on her.
"Others... it was others, hyung! It was never me, believe me. I tried to talk to you everytime about it but you always pushed me away. I know our Miso's better than all of the sons, she'll make both of us proud. I've never once thought diffrent of Yena and Miso."
"That's right. Him and I have always wished us to be together again, hyungnim." Yena's mother's voice approached us.
She walked towards me and it made me look at her, "Don't cry, Miso-ya."
"It was all a misunderstanding, hyung. Please forgive me for anything else that's left and let us unite once again. I can't afford to stay separated anymore." I watched him pull my father into a hug, "I miss you, please."
Suddenly the main door cracked open as someone familiar stood at the door with an awkward smile. He lowered his head when he noticed the crowd of people in the house and walked inside clumsily, tripping a few steps.
Riki? Why's he even here at this hour? He didn't have to randomly walk in the middle of our family drama.
He bowed 90 degrees before walking closer to us as he stood behind me, Yena and Yena's mother quietly.
"Appa," He addressed my father in a low yet polite tone, causing him to pull away from uncle's embrace. " I, uh... I am seeing Miso. I, I love her and so do you but the only difference's that I let her know it but you don't."
Everyone present in the room was looking at him in surprise. What is he even planning to say?
"I am completely aware of everything that's going on between your and Yena's family and I wouldn't like to say anything about it." He looked over me, "But when it comes to my business, Miso and her life, I would interfere to an extent."
His voice echoed in the hall, taking everyone in surprise with how bold he sounded.
"I know your intention behind marrying her to someone isn't bad, all you want is her to live the best life. But she can get that life herself, really. You just need to love her, and show it."
He walked towards me and held my hand protectively, "If you can't do that, then I'll have to keep her away from you. I'll do anything to protect her. Even if that means calling copes on you or dying."It became dead silent and a serious ambience took over the place when he stopped talking. Until my father started laughing. Nope, it wasn't an evil laugh, it was a pure and genuine sound.
"Young man, you can have my daughter. I know she'll be in safe and loving hands." My father smiled, surprising everyone.
"You sound so mature." Yena's mother laughed, patting him softly.
"Come here, everyone. We're a family again." My father opened his arms as Yena's father ran into him. Yena's mother pulled me, Riki and Yena into our father's arms.
For once, everything felt complete.
