Chapter 49

Reylan placed the protein shake glass on the table, then he found her mouth and they kissed for a long time, lingering and enjoying every delicate tangle of tongues. With each passing moment, their lips pressed closer and their tongues began to search for each other more desperately, making their kiss deeper and harder. This kiss sparked Reylan's interest. But he restrains himself because it is not the appropriate time. They both broke the kiss. Anaira blushed and quickly fixed herself before placing the tiffin in a bag to carry. Reylan watched her quietly clear the table before asking.

Reylan- Would you like to stay here or go home, Anna?

Anaira- No, I am heading home. You carry out your tasks.

Reylan- I see. Then go back home and rest. I will complete my work and return home. (Kissing her forehead).

They both got up from the sofa. He asked Michael to drop Anaira off at the entrance. Michael arrived and escorted Anaira to the entrance, where the driver and security guards were waiting. Then she said goodbye to Michael. He returned to Reylan's cabin and informed him that Elijah's team had gathered some information about the case. After that, they both became preoccupied with discussing it. Reylan went home after finishing all of his work, but not before visiting the hospitalized victims. Some are being discharged today, while others will need to stay in the hospital for another 2-3 days. Only one patient has the worst condition and is still in the ICU. When he arrived at home, it was already 7.30 PM. He rang the doorbell, and the maid opened it. He inquired about Anaira's whereabouts, to which the maid replied that she was in the indoor pool area. Reylan then asked her to retire for the day. The maids and staff at Knight Mansion have their own floor. He was about to enter the indoor swimming pool area when Anaira appeared.

Anaira- Ree, when did you arrive?

Reylan- I have just arrived. Did you get some rest?!

Anaira- I did. Go freshen up. I will bring you coffee.

Reylan- Okay.

He heads to their room, takes a shower, and changes into sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

(Reylan's look)

Until then, Anaira had brought him coffee.

Anaira- Ree, do you have any information about the incident?

Reylan- (Sitting on the couch) Yes, we found something. I believe the truth will come to light soon. Do not be too worried about it.

Anaira- (Sitting next to him) Hmm.

With one hand Reylan pulled her to him, and with another he sipped coffee. She also snuggled in to his side, hugging him, resting her head on his chest and closing her eyes. After finishing his coffee, he placed the mug on the table and hugged Anaira with both hands.

Reylan- I am sorry, Anna! We have not even been married for a month, and I was unable to throw you a reception to officially introduce yourself to the world.

Anaira- (opening her eyes and looking up at Reylan) Why are you saying this, Reylan?! You do not have to apologize for that. That's not your fault. It was caused by an incident over which you had no control.

Reylan- But still

Anaira- Reylan, do not say anything about it. We will have the reception party after this fiasco is over, and just because you did not introduce me to the media does not mean I am not your wife. Our families and friends are aware of this, so everything is fine.

Anaira's words moved Reylan once again. Though he never expressed it, he unknowingly fell for Anaira. He is always surprised by Anaira's thoughtfulness. He felt he had done the best thing by agreeing to meet Anaira with his mother; otherwise, he would not have found a life partner like Anaira. He is concerned about the incident, but he remembers that Anaira is new to this city, especially in his life, so he decides to take a break after the fiasco is over so that the newlywed couple can spend some time together without interruption. After a while of talking, it is time for dinner. After dinner, Reylan fell asleep hugging Anaira. Because he was extremely tired from work.
