𝐊𝐈𝐄 wasn't doing too well. For one, her mom passed away last week. She wasn't too close to her, she'd actually screamed that she hated her (multiple times), but now she's gone something just seems wrong. She also failed school. She'd been spending so much time with her friends that she got D's and E's on everything.

So she couldn't get a good job, and her dad became depressed after her mom died, so they were struggling with money. But one of her main problems is that she'd recently broke up with her boyfriend, JJ, who had also been her best friend for years. It's now very awkward in her friend group. She had no one right now, as the whole group decided to hang out with JJ. Shortly after, Kie fell into a depression too, which consisted of locking herself in her room for multiple days in a row, not talking to anyone, not eating, and not sleeping.

She was so fucking done with this.

She sighs and looks around. What was she doing to herself? She used to run around and be free and now look what happened. She's all locked up on her own, smoking in her room. She puts her cigarette out on her wooden desk and throws the blanket back, stepping out her bed and getting an intense rush to her head. She gasps and grabs her bed frame to steady herself. Hastily, she shakes away the dizziness and grabs the container of anti-depressants from the floor, flipping the cap open and downing a pill with ease. She sighs and shuts it again, tossing it back onto the floor. She walks across the bedroom and opens her curtains, squinting and blocking her eyes as she sun shines into her room, illuminating it with a golden glow. She wafts away some dust that emerged, and admires the way she could see the particles lit in the sunlight. She smiles gently. It was a small thing, but it made her feel kind of happy. She missed being happy.

She scoffs to herself and picks up some old cans of beer and energy drinks off the floor, collecting them into her hands and putting them into the bin. She felt a small glow of pride. She sighs and opens her bedroom door, stepping out and looking around the house. Since she had a bathroom attached to her room, she hadn't been out here in weeks. She hadn't spoken to her dad in weeks.

"Dad?" She calls, wandering into the living room. Holy shit, she literally hasn't spoken in weeks. The room was dimly lit by an old lampshade that nearly worked, so she couldn't see much, but she still found the sofa with her father lying on it. "Hey." She murmurs, her hand finding his face. He didn't respond. He must be asleep, she thinks. She lightly shakes his shoulder for a while, but he doesn't respond either, causing Kie to frown. A very deep sleep. She shakes him again and slaps his face lightly. "Dad?"

There was no response. Kie started to panic. "Dad? Hello?" She shakes him more vigorously, patting his face. She lowers her face to his mouth and realised he wasn't breathing. What the fuck. No, no, no, no...

She looks around frantically, not even sure what she's looking for. Something that caused him to stop breathing? A signal to how long he'd been like this? Her eyes hand on a note on the table, so she leans over and picks it up. She shakily reads it, the words sinking in. There was the 'I love you so much' and the 'I'm so so sorry'.
Oh. It was a suicide note.

Oh

Her heart drops in her chest. No, no, no, no. This can't be happening. Frantically, her eyes flick from her dad's body to the note, then back to his body again, and her eyes start welling with tears.

"Fuck.." She covers her mouth with her hands and stares at the words, hoping if she somehow stared at them for long enough they'd change. But no. She lets out a shaky, pathetic sob and covers her face with her hands. How could he leave her? He was the only person she had. She had no friends anymore, no parents. Kie had no one. She wanted so badly to re connect with the pouges, but she couldn't bring herself to do it.

Well... what was she gonna do? Leave the body here, rotting?
She whips out her phone and dials emergency services.
The rest of the day went by agonisingly slowly. The ambulance told her that he'd been dead for at least 4 days now, and they took him away, leaving Kie all on her own.

She decided to go for a surf to take her mind off things like she always used to. Kie used to surf with the pouges almost every day, it was the thing that made her feel alive, and she needed that more than anything right now. To feel alive.

Kie walks bare foot to the beach, holding her old surfboard in her arms. She walks past the Boneyard, where a lot of the snobby Kooks usally hang out. She examines them all, looking at how they've changed in the past month, if any of them got hotter, if any of them got uglier, if any of them got shitty ass haircuts..
She chuckles a little. Some of them got even uglier if that's even possible. She watches them all for a while, goofing around, getting drunk, doing drugs...
She watches as a few of them double-take her.

"Yo, yo, is that Kie?" Says a voice.

Kie rolls her eyes and starts walking off, not wanting any attention. Suddenly she hears footsteps behind her and starts waking faster.

"Hey, Kie." Hesitantly, she turns around on her heel, and stood in front of her was the one and only Rafe Cameron. "Where have you been, huh?"

"Oh fuck off, Rafe." She groans and attempts to walk away, but Rafe grabs her by the wrist and forces her to look at him. She narrows her eyes at him. "What do you want?"

"I wanna know where you've been." He grumbles, his grip not loosening. "You just disappeared one day."

"Can you really blame me for wanting to get away from you lot?" She tugs her wrist away from his grasp.

"And what, you stopped hanging out with your Pouge friends?" Rafe cocks an eyebrow, his eyes skimming over her briefly. "You've lost a lot of weight."

Her jaw drops. "What the fuck? You can't just go around making comments like that." She re adjusts her grip on her surfboard. "And mind your own business."

Rafe sighs and runs his fingers through his hair,
closing his eyes and tilting his head upto the sky briefly. "Fine. Don't tell me what happened. I'm gonna find out though."

"Why do you even care?" Her voice cracks a little.

"Oh I don't. I just like knowing what's going on in everyone's lives." Rafe chuckles a little.

Kie scoffs and turns around to walk away.

"You forget who I am, Kie." Rafe shouts after her. "I always find out everything."

Kie flips him off, and starts jogging toward the beach. That sick bastard.
