Ever since (Y/n) received relationship advice from Zarkon she was a little more affectionate with Sendak and he seemed to like it; she gave him a hug every evening before they parted ways for the night and every time he helped her with something difficult she would express her appreciation for his help with a lingering hug and a flutter of her eyes. At first she'd been scared to initiate more physical contact than usual when the right time came along and she could tell that Sendak had been a little startled by it at first, luckily as the next week or so passed he got used to it and he even nuzzled the top of her head more often. It wasn't like they never had physical contact before they separately went to Zarkon for romantic advice, they'd occasionally had a few casual snuggle sessions with each other, but (Y/n) made sure to be extra touchy-feely as time went on. She absolutely loved being physically close with Sendak more often and she hoped that one day in the near future, they would pair off and she could introduce him to kissing. The thought of kissing Sendak on the lips always left (Y/n) feeling excited and tingly, she could hardly wait for when her efforts paid off.

Sendak had noticed (Y/n's) change in behavior after the next few weeks after their trip together, how she'd become more affectionate with him than usual, and it wasn't even her fertile week; they still had the platonic cuddling session just as all good friends did, but when she fluttered her eyes at him he wondered if it was her way of showing him that she wanted them to be more than friends. According to Ulaz, one of Kolivan's friends who was a doctor and somewhat of a scientist, it was a universal sign that when a woman was extra affectionate with someone she was interested in, and fluttered her eyes, she was undoubtedly interested in becoming that person's romantic partner. Either way, Sendak took it as a sign that it was time for him to take (Y/n) out somewhere where they could be alone and he could formally begin courting her. Of course, he needed to look for a proper courtship gift to give her and he went shopping at the various stores on Daibazaal, searching for the perfect gift. Sendak came across the perfect gift while he stopped by a street fair in a village in one of the Southern deserts; a beautiful lightweight scarf (Y/n) could wear during the windy days when the wind whipped the sand around.

Sometimes sand would get in (Y/n's) hair during the windy days and then it would be nearly impossible for her to get it out, but if she wore a light scarf then she wouldn't have that problem and she wouldn't get too hot while she wore it. With a suitable gift in his possession, all Sendak had to do was take her out to one of his favorite places out in the desert. He decided to do it after dinner and dessert one early summer evening, right when the sunset would be; sunsets were always romantic, no matter what planet one lived on. (Y/n) thought it was just an ordinary evening, although Zarkon could tell that Sendak appeared more anxious than usual and he had the sneaking suspicion that he knew what would go down between him and (Y/n) later that evening. After everyone had eaten their fill and the servants cleared the dishes off of the table, Sendak approached (Y/n) before she could go anywhere.

“This evening is supposed to be nice, would you like to come watch the sunset with me?” Sendak inquired formally as he got (Y/n's) attention, even though he felt as though his heart would burst right out of his chest.

“I would love to.” (Y/n) answered enthusiastically, perhaps a little too much because the aspect of them being alone together excited her, luckily he didn't seem put off by her enthusiasm.

“We should leave now then, before it gets dark.” Sendak replied, gently beaming down at the young woman before he led her down the hallway.

(Y/n) couldn't wait to see the sunset with Sendak, just the two of them, and she walked next to him until they reached the galra version of a garage and he opened the passenger door to his hovercar so that she could get in first, then he walked over to the other side and got in. It wasn't long before they were out in the desert, the quiet humming sound of his car the only sound filling the not too awkward silence. (Y/n) wondered why Sendak asked her out so suddenly; she didn't want to get her hopes up again, but as long as she kept her hands to herself then nothing bad would happen. She didn't know exactly how much time passed since they left the palace, although soon enough Sendak stopped the car and turned it off, then he got out and opened the passenger door for (Y/n) like the true gentleman he was. There was a little hill nearby with a tree next to it; it was his favorite place to go when he needed to think, and he wanted to share it with (Y/n).
