That's What She Said

I grab my things that I need for now and I head out to Dan and Phil's.

I knock on their door and it takes a minute for someone to answer the door.

Dan answers the door. Dan's eyes turn from sleepy to worried when he sees me.

"What happened, Nicole?! Are you okay?!" Dan pulls me inside. He could tell I was crying.

"D-dan...... J-james a-and his boss were d-doing each o-other and I-I walked in to t-tell J-james happy b-birthday and I was going t-to b-bed and he yelled a-at me for walking in a-and h-he kicked me o-out," I sob and sob louder.

"Oh Nicole... I'm so sorry," Dan pulls me in for a hug.  

"Dan, are you crying?- Oh my God! Nicole! What happened?!" Phil calls from inside the flat. I look over Dan's shoulder and see Phil run over to us.

"Nicole caught James and his boss...... Having fun. James yelled at her and then kicked her out," Dan whispers above my head.

"Oh god.. Again James?" Phil whispers to himself. I pull back slightly from Dan and sniffle as I look at Phil.

"What do you mean again?" I ask in tears. Phil sighs.

"Back at Uni...... Oh.... Back at Uni James slept with the female professors. He wasn't very smart, or good at Law, but he wanted what he wanted....... The only reason I know he did this is because he bragged about it, and because he wouldn;t turn any work in and he still had A's in all his classes."

Oh great, he's been doing this forever. The thought of my brother doing this for years and lying to me breaks my heart into tiny pieces. I begin to cry again, and Dan pulls me against his chest. Phil comes around on the other side and wraps his arms around me and Dan.

"It's a Nicole sandwhich," Phil says, light heartedly. I let out a small, choked laugh.

"well, we're halfway there on the road to recovery! C'mon. Come inside, and we'll watch some movies and eat some food and forget about your twat brother," Dan says, releasing me from the hug.

I sniff but nod, and follow them into the lounge area where Phil sits with me on the couch while Dan goes into the other room.

"Are you gonna be okay?" Phil asks.

"Let me get back to you on that," I sigh as Dan comes back from the kitchen, crisps, biscuits and tea galore in hand.

"Now, let's watch something funny."

After a while of watching movies and me laying on Dan's chest, I feel my eyelids droop.

Dan knows I'm tired and he picks me up bridal style and takes me to a spare room and he lays me down on the bed.

"Good night, Nicole. See you in the morning," Dan whispers and walks out of the room and he closes the door.

*morning*

I wake up to the sun shining in my face and birds chirping. Weird. That only happens in Disney movies.

I look over the the clock and it's 11:26. This is about the time of day when Dan and Phil wake up so I decide to get up too.

I walk down into the kitchen and see Phil making something.

"Hi Phil," I greet him.

"Hey Nicole! How are you feeling?" Phil turns around to face me.

"Meh. I'm okay. I've been better," I say, sitting down.
