To The Moon

The next morning I'm awakened by the soft knocking on the door. I shuffle to the door in my pajama shorts and tshirt, the Yeezus tee I stole from Dan, and then open the door.

Thomas smirks at me and I can't help but smirk at him. His hair isn't combed, his glasses are slightly askew on his face, his tshirt is rumpled and his pajama bottoms adorn the Avengers.

"Good morning," I smile sweetly.

"Ha, goodmorning sunshine. Quinn wants you in her room to start getting ready if that's okay. She has breakfast in there," He adds as an afterthought. I laugh.

"I'll just grab the few things I need and be there soon. Which room is her's?"

"The one on the far end of the hall, straight back."

"Okay," I smile. Thomas leans down.

I give him a confused glance, but he smiles and pecks my cheek. He walks off down the opposite end of the hall, and I'm left standing like an idiot.

My mobile beeps while I'm in the middle of having my make up done by Quinn's friend Sarah, so I ask Quinn, who was completely ready except for her dress, if she could check it.

"Sure thing!"

She clicks on the message and then frowns.

"What?"

"Password?"

I laugh.

"8-1-9-4-5," I smile. She nods and taps in the numbers.

"It's from Dan," She begins. "Nicole, when you get back I have to tell you something important."

"Hmmm. I wonder what that's about," I mumble.

"Do you want me to reply?"

"Could you? Just say Okay see you and Phil soon."

She texts rapidly before sending. "Done," She smiles.

"So who's Dan and Phil?" Sarah asks in a suggestive tone.

I laugh. "My flatmates and my best friends."

"That's cool. You know what Dan wants to talk about?" Quinn asks.

"Maybe he finally asked out that girl he likes, or maybe he wants advice on asking her," I say. Phil let slip that Dan likes this girl, but unfortunately she doesn't seem to like him back.

"Oh."

"Yeah."

The ceremony was beautiful, I cried (not suprisingly), I handed Quinn Clark's ring, and I held her bouqet until they ran down the aisle and towards their happy ending.

It's night by the time Thomas finally got to talk to me, and it isn't welcome when it finally comes.

I'm sitting by the stream, trying carefully to not get the dress wet. I watch the moon glisten off the water, and the tiny dots floating next to it, the stars dusting the skies.

The music from the outdoor reception can still be heard here, and a slow song comes on. I think back to when Dan and I danced. I couldn't replicate that warm, fluttery, buzzed feeling I had if tried. Maybe if we were to dance again, but even so.

I look out to the fields of flowers and the moon shines on the broken lighthouse. I lean back and imagine.

I imagine myself in the blue bridesmaids dress, standing by the lighthouse alone. Then Dan, with his warm brown eyes and brown fringe would waltz over in nothing but two simple clthing pieces. A black tshirt. That and his black skiny jeans would clash with the English charm of the wedding.
