luke stared at the ceiling, the faint glow of the streetlamp outside casting long shadows across his room. it was 3 am, and he was wired. he had gotten home from another fantastic date with estella, and this time, something had shifted. it wasn't just the way she laughed at his jokes, or the way her eyes sparkled when she talked about her passion for vintage photography. it was the way he felt when she looked at him, a warmth that had him grinning like an idiot even when he was alone. he wanted to be more than just "another date" to her. he wanted to be her boyfriend.

he pulled out his phone, a scroll through their conversation history bringing back warm fuzzies. he replayed their date in his mind, finding every little detail that confirmed his feelings. he wanted this, he needed this. but how? the question kept him up for another hour, until a plan started to coalesce in his mind, as messy and chaotic as his thoughts.

estella's birthday was coming up soon. he would tell her then. but not just a simple "i like you, wanna be boyfriend/girlfriend?" he had to do this right. he had to make it special. in the quiet hours before dawn, he mapped out the plan, his phone buzzing with ideas, his notebook filling with scribbled notes. he would make it a day filled with things she loved, a day where they were just the two of them, a day that would culminate in a declaration of his feelings.

luke knew that estella valued her friends' opinions above all else, and he wanted to make sure that he had their blessing before he made his move. he took them out for coffee and laid it all on the table. he told them how much he loved estella, how he saw a future with her, and how he wanted to make their relationship official.

alahna and madi were touched by luke's sincerity and candor. they had never seen estella so happy, and they knew that luke was the reason why. they gave him their blessing and promised to help him in any way they could.

luke was over the moon with excitement. he knew that estella's birthday was coming up, and he decided that it would be the perfect time to ask her to be his official girlfriend. he spent weeks planning the perfect surprise, and with the help of alahna and madi, he managed to pull it off.

'okay, luke, think big! think romantic!' madi exclaimed, bouncing on the edge of hr seat. 'think fireworks, think serenades, think...'

'think about what estella would actually like,' alahna interjected, rolling her eyes playfully. 'she's not into cheesy grand gestures, remember?'

luke sighed, running a hand through his hair. 'i know, i know. it just feels like there should be something... something special.' he looked at his two best friends, his eyes pleading. 'you know i want to make her feel special, right?'

madi and alahna exchanged a knowing glance. luke had been crushing on estella for months, and they were all rooting for him.

'look,' alahna began, 'estella loves the simple things. she loves spending time with you, she loves your goofy jokes, she loves...'
