Over the next few days, the two of them exchanged more and more text messages.

Even though it was Vivian who wrote most of the time. Siobhan only ever sent short replies. Never anything too personal.

The nurse wanted to ask to meet up again, but she was so busy with her job that she didn't have the time right now.

Maybe during the weekend.

Thursday started normally for her. She got Jamie ready, took him to nursery and then went to work herself.

Dalia asked if she wanted to go to the pub with some colleagues after work. But she didn't have a babysitter for Jamie and had to decline.

Siobhan was strangely quiet today. After her 'good morning', nothing more came.

Vivian had written to her again during the lunch break, but no reply.

This was starting to worry her, she didn't want to imagine what might be happening.

Siobhan typed on her laptop, if she couldn't go to the head office, she could at least work from home.

Roger had been away all day. She was surprised, since he had dislocated her shoulder, he had left her reasonably alone.

But the peace will not last long. He was just afraid that someone would notice something.

Siobhan rubbed her eyes, it was enough for today. She closed her laptop, some fresh air would be nice now.

She was just about to open the front door when it was wrenched open.

The door almost hit her in the face. But luckily she was able to dodge it.

"Where are you going?" Was the first thing he said.

"Just to get some fresh air..."

Roger pushed her back. "You're not going anywhere!"

When his hand almost grabbed her neck, something happened that no one had expected. She slapped his hand away.

"Who do you think you are?" He raised his hand and seemed ready to strike. But Siobhan didn't move. She just stared him in the eye and waited for his hand to strike.

But Roger didn't strike, he seemed surprised by her himself.

"I'm going out now!" Siobhan spoke calmly but strongly.

She pushed past him.

But he grabbed her arm. "You seem to have forgotten who I am! I've given you everything! I've built you up and if I want to, I can tear you down!"

"Then do it already..." she hissed.

He looked at her angrily. "You want to get out?! Then go and be a street whore!" He dragged her towards the front door, opened it and threw her out.

Siobhan hit the ground hard. She couldn't really catch herself, because of her still injured shoulder.

The door slammed shut behind her.

When she entered the pub, her thoughts were with Roger. She couldn't imagine what will happen now.

She had to go back eventually, where else could she go? No friends, no family.

She pushed the thoughts away, that was a problem for the future.

Now she would drown her feelings in alcohol.

She sat down a little apart in the pub and was already on her third glass of white wine.

As she lifted her gaze, she met the eyes of a young blonde woman sitting at the bar.

She looked at her too.

The woman's gaze told her that she knew her. But Siobhan couldn't recognise the face.

It didn't matter. The young woman left the pub quickly, mobile phone already to her ear.

Now Siobhan could no longer tell how much she had already drunk, a clear thought was no longer possible. Well driving home was out of the picture. At least she didn't feel any pain now.

"Siobhan?"

She looked up but couldn't recognise who it was because of her blurred vision.

" My God......come..."

She felt a gentle hand wrap around her arm and pull her to her feet.

The person had to support her. Helped her into a car.

Siobhan was so tired, she didn't care who it was or what was going to happen. She closed her eyes and immediately fell into a sound sleep.

The car was already awaited outside the apartment block.

"What the hell Vivian? You took her with you?!"

Vivian walked towards Dalia, who was standing with her arms crossed.

" I couldn't leave her there in such a state. Besides, you rang me to tell me she was there?"

" Yes, but I thought you'd persuade her to go home or something. How could I have expected you to drag her along!"

Vivian looked at the car, Siobhan was sleeping peacefully in the driver's seat. "If she's here, at least I know she's safe."

Dalia put a hand on her shoulder.
" You're playing with fire Viv. Do you have any idea how influential Roger is? He could cost you your job! If this gets out..... You know how many of our doctors play golf.... with him!"

But Vivian shook her head. "She stayed here until she sobered up... Thank you for looking after Jamie."

Dalia's face reflected the worry. "I know you want to help her....but sometimes you can't save the whole world. Think of your son!"

With that, the blonde left her standing there.

Vivian let out a heavy sight. Her son needed her and she needed money to provide for him. If she lost her job, it would be the end.

She looked again at the woman in the car.

I hope this was the right choice, she thought.
