In the office: Lily's P.O.V.

I see a red haired boy in the office but I can't seem to place him. "Neal, who's that?" I ask, pointing at him. "That's Brian. I told him about everything. He's your boyfriend. Anything coming back?" Neal asks. I nod.

Flashback:

Someone bumps into me and looks about my age. "Oh, I'm sorry. Didn't see you there." says. "It's fine, that normally happens to me so I'm used to it." I say, smiling. "What's your name?" He asks me. "Elise Quinn, what's yours?" I ask him.

"Brian Plink. Feel free to laugh at the last name, most people do." He says, a bit embarrassed. That's not very nice of people. "Why would I laugh? It's a last name, there's a lot of worse last names. None can really come to mind right now but it's true." I say. He laughs. "Yeah, I guess that's one way to look at it. Has anyone ever mentioned how much your eyes sparkle?" Brian asks, blushing a bit. Aw, he's so sweet. "No one has, thank you." I say, blushing a bit.

Do I have a crush? "What do you think of the event so far?" He asks. "It's pretty clam, I guess. I mean, I've had a lot of crazy experiences at events so it's great to go somewhere normal for a change." I say. He looks at me confused. "That probably sounded really weird, sorry. Should I go?" I ask, about to turn around. He grabs my hand gently.

"No, please stay." He says. We look down to see that we're still holding hands. We both pull our hands away and blush. He scratches his head. "What do you say we leave the room to find a bit of quiet before dinner?" He asks me. I smile. "That'd be great." I say to him.

"I know a place. Follow me." He says. I follow him into an empty hallway and we sit on a very fancy bench. "I've never seen you at this type of event before, are you new to the city?" He asks me. "Relatively, I've only been here for about 2 or 3 years. I've never been to an event like this before. I'm only here because of my job." I say to him. "Oh, what do you do?" He asks. Should I tell him?

"I'm here to protect someone, I would prefer not to say who. Although, it's volunteer work. One of my good friends paid for me to come. He's not in danger right now and no one else is here either but it's just for precaution just in case that made you worried. How about you? Why are you here?" I ask back. "I'm here because of my parents. They love doing these types of things. It's part of what makes it hard making real friends. You never know who could be using you. Rich parents tend to have that effect on people." He says, sadly. Oh, poor Brian.

"Well, I'm certainly not one of those people. I would be your friend weather you're rich or poor. That's the truth." I state. Alliteration! It really is though. "Will you be my friend?" He asks me. "I would love to be." I say. And more than that too. "I heard you talk with Adler and if you want a job that actually pays you Adler is hiring so if you want me to I can put a good word in for you." He offers.

That's so sweet. "You don't have to. Friends no matter what, remember?" I ask. "No, this I'm sure about. You're the kind of person I'd want to work with. Please go to an interview tomorrow. It's for a new assistant. They start at 11. I can get you an appointment. It would be pretty fun to work together, right? Please?" He asks me. Well, how am I supposed to say no to that? "It would be. Okay, you've convinced me." I say to him. "Yes! You're going to love it." He says.

I highly doubt it's as cool as my actual job but I'll give it a try. We hear a bell. "Well that's for dinner. We should probably get going. I'll see you tomorrow." He says. I smile. "See you tomorrow." I say to him as I go to where my seat is. Neal moved his seat assignment and not mine. Thanks a lot! Wait, now I'm next to Brian. Neal must have seen us talking. Great.

"Well look at that, we've been placed next to each other." Brian points out. Yeah. "Apparently so." I say. He pulls out my chair. "Thank you." I say. We continue talking the rest of the night and I actually had fun here.
