Felix laid in his bed for hours, going back and forth in his mind. As he looked over at his bedside clock, he saw it was about 8:50, making him sigh and grab his phone to text Chan his address.
His finger hovered over the send button for a couple seconds though. If he sent the text, there was no going back. He'd have to go watch the match tonight. Is that what he really wanted?
Before he could talk himself out of it, he hit send, instantly putting his phone face down on the bed so he wouldn't look at it. That was it, there was no going back now. He officially was gonna go watch a match at Red Dragon Fury with his new coworker. He didn't know if he should feel excitement or dread.
Felix pushed himself off the bed, before walking over to look in the mirror, checking to make sure he at least looked presentable. He stared at himself for a while, before softly sighing, not knowing what to think of himself right now.
He waited for what felt like an eternity before finally hearing the faint sounds of honks outside his house signaling that Chan was here. Felix took a deep breath before walking down the stairs, with each step he took, he could feel himself getting filled up with more and more anxiety.
By the time he reached the front door, he felt like his skin was crawling. He quickly opened the door and stepped out into the cool night, turning to lock his front door before walking to the passenger side door and getting in.
Chan instantly gave Felix a small smile as he got in before putting the car in reverse and backing out of the driveway.
"How was work?" Felix asked a little strained. He didn't want to think about what was about to happen so he prayed that Chan would continue a conversation.
"It was good. Line was pretty long today,"
"Really? That sounds horrible"
Chan softly laughed, his eyes focused on the road "It wasn't to bad. I finally met Granny Park,"
That made Felix genuinely smile, already feeling a little better than he did when he left the house.
"She's a sweetheart. Don't know what she sees in me though" Felix said with a small laugh, recalling all his encounters with the sweet old lady. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see Chan with a faint smile on his lips.
The rest of the car ride was silent, Felix to wrapped up in his head to speak again. He still couldn't believe that he was on the way to actually go to Red Dragon Fury to watch a boxing match out of everything.
He got pulled out of his thoughts though when Chan turned down a small, almost unnoticeable road, leading away from the town. Felix could feel his nerves starting to creep their way back into his body as he looked out of the window at all the old, broken down buildings they were passing.
He felt even more anxious when Chan finally stopped the car outside of a big, rusty looking warehouse that had all the windows boarded off.
"Felix,"
The said male heard his name being called making him turn to look at the other who now had a serious expression on his face, which didn't calm Felix's nerves one bit.
"Listen, like I've said, this place isn't exactly ideal and I think you know that. I have 3 rules for you to follow and you have to promise me you'll listen to them, alright?" Chan said firmly, making Felix slightly gulp and nod his head.
"Good, now the first one is obvious. Don't talk to anybody. Even if they look approachable, which most don't, don't converse with them. Most people in here are either criminals or bad bad people who will eat you alive, so staying silent is for the best"
Chan said making Felix nod again. That much he already knew, and it's not like he was gonna talk to people anyway.
"Secondly, do not make or take any bets. The listers in there are vicious and if you even such as say the word money, they're gonna be all over you and won't stop till you make a bet. But if you put your name on that list and the cops somehow find this place, your gonna be one of the first people they stop to since they have physical proof you were there. And no matter how much you bet, the listers aren't gonna be satisfied so don't even look at them"
Chan stated, not looking away from the other for one second, undeniably unnerving the younger.
"And lastly, which is the most important, do NOT leave the V.I.P. box where I'm gonna take you. I have friends up there that help me with my fighter who will look after you up there. But if you leave that box, I'm not gonna be there to help you when someone tries to come to you, and trust me, they will. Especially since your new around here and, no offense, you look like a flower. People in here don't like flowers and they're gonna do anything they can to squash you in not such friendly ways,"
Felix felt the others words ringing through his ears, making his palms start to sweat. He could feel himself getting overtaken by regret once again.
What the fuck did he get himself into?
"Felix, tell me that you understand what I just told you,"
That made the younger look at Chan before replying, his voice slightly strained.
"I understand the rules. I won't talk to anybody, I won't make bets, and I won't leave the box"
That made the older faintly smile, before putting his hand on the others shoulder softly, his voice now losing its edge a little.
"You'll be fine, I promise. Just listen to my rules and you'll be safe. My friends that'll be in the box with you will look after you and you'll get along great. Now let's go, I have to check on my fighter before his match starts" Chan said while unbuckling his seatbelt making the other do the same thing.
Felix opened his car door, looking up at the old abandoned warehouse again before closing his door. Was this really the legendary boxing arena? Some old ass building that looked like it could fall at any moment?
Chan started walking towards the bolted doors making Felix quickly follow behind, not wanting to get left outside by himself. The older stopped in front of the doors, slightly off to the side before flipping open a old looking electrical box and punching in a code on a keypad before shutting the box again.
Felix watched in confusion before hearing the metal being swung open making his eyes snap back to the doors in front of his which were now partly opened, letting a little light shine through the crack, loud voices instantly filling the silence.
Chan turned back to the other before speaking,
"Follow me. Stick close or you'll get lost," He said making Felix nod before Chan added with a small grin,"Welcome to Red Dragon Fury cupcake"
