Emmy had texted Hawk that she was staying over at Tory's again, and to not worry about where she was. She had almost sent Miguel the same text considering she was basically living in his apartment, but then the night events flooded her mind and she angrily deleted it.
She sat in her seat in her Math class, mindlessly scrolling through social media as she and the rest of the people in the class wait for their teacher to come in.
"Good morning, students and faculty. Welcome to a brand new-year at West Valley High. I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready to dive back into the school year. You can also purchase tickets for the fall musical, which will be a production of the global hit, Grease. And finally, as we embark upon another academic year, it's important to remember to be tolerant and accepting of all of our peers regardless of ⎯ Hey, what...you're not supposed to be in here!"
The sudden interruption in the morning announcements made Emmy sit up straight in her chair. What was going on?
The feedback from the microphone made her bring her hands up to her ears and then glanced around at the rest of the students around her.
"Samantha LaRusso."
Tory's voice had her hands slowly dropping, staring at the speaker. Tory had told her that she was going to miss the first few minutes of school, but never said that reason why.
"You know what you did, and now you're gonna pay for it. I'm coming for you bitch!"
The bell then rang soon after that, and Emmy bolted up from her seat and out of the classroom. She knew that Tory wasn't gonna take the news of Miguel and Sam kissing well and felt a little bit of shame for telling her.
She stopped behind a large group of people and shoved them out of her way to get to the center. Emmy then paused behind Tory and shared a glance with Robby.
"I know what you did at the party," Tory spoke to Sam. "You kissed Miguel."
Emmy felt her heart drop.
She watched as Sam looked to Robby and his face morphed into one of betrayal. Opening her mouth, Sam tried to explain herself but Tory was fed up and threw a harsh swing. Sam immediately tried to run, but Tory grabbed onto her backpack, pulling it off and throwing it to the side. Tory then kicked her in the stomach, launching back into Hawk and a few others who pushed her back in.
It wasn't long before the two girls were full on karate fighting, Sam trying to block all of Tory's hits as best she could.
Emmy stood frozen on the side, feeling her feet stuck to the ground. She didn't know if she should interject so no one got in trouble, but she feared she would be next in Tory's line of anger. But before she knew it, she caught Robby rushing towards the fighting girls, grabbing Tory's arm and pulled her away.
When Tory tried to push him away, he shoved her up against the lockers with his hand, which was placed on the exposed part of her upper body.
Emmy felt her blood boil as she saw where his hand placement was, and without thinking, she ran forward, and kicked Robby in his side, making him tumble to the floor and ultimately let go of Tory.
