"Your dad wants you to what?"
Emmy huffed as she flopped back onto her bed. "You heard me."
"Em, that's kind of insane," Demetri told her from her desk chair.
"Yeah. Like, you'd basically be our boss," Eli realized, toying with a tin of putty she had on her nightstand.
Emmy eyed them oddly. "Okay, you guys are making me think that I shouldn't take the offer."
"Don't listen to them," Robby sighed, toying with her hair. "It's an amazing opportunity for you."
"Would I even be good at it?" Emmy asked, looking at her boyfriend with sad eyes. "I mean, I embarrass myself at the All-Valley and then suddenly I'm a sensei at the Sekai Taikai?"
Tory snorted from her spot on the floor. "You'd look badass. What other 17-year-old is a karate sensei for the biggest tournament in the world? You'd be stupid not to take the offer. Plus, I need you there."
Emmy gave the girl a grateful look. Her bedroom door then swung open, and Miguel walked in. "Hey! Where's Sam?"
"Uh, she couldn't make it," Miguel said, flopping next to Tory. "Something about Anthony and muffins."
"Oh, dear," Emmy's face became horrified. "Don't tell me he ate all of the chocolate muffins."
Miguel made a face, and Emmy let out a loud groan, leaning back against Robby's shoulder. "Ugh! That sucker eats everything!"
He laughed at her despair. "So, have you thought about your dad's offer? It's a good one."
"Yeah, yeah," she waved him off. "God, I hate making decisions."
