Chapter 11: On a mission

Maxine's P.O.V.

While I was waiting for Kyson, the rain started pouring down already. I have thought of helping him. I should go and check on him

I was about to go out and when I saw Kyson coming back, all soaked up

"Kyson!"

I approached him and helped him with the wood that he was carrying

"You've been out for too long. I was starting to get worried" I was placing the woods on the floor to make fire. Until I turned around

He was taking off his shirt

I immediately looked away

"Ummm...D-don't you want to dress up somewhere private?" I tried looking slowly

His toned abs were visible and he was all drenched

I didn't expect a 17 year-old kid to have a well toned abs already

"Why? Are you nervous?" He then chuckled making my face turn like tomatoes

I looked back at him "What are you even say-

He then threw his clothes at me "Find a place to hang my clothes. I will do the fire myself"

What is he even thinking? He's only wearing pants right now!

I was hanging his clothes when I saw him shivering in cold

I then gave him the blanket

"Y-you should cover up. You'll freeze to death" Why am I stuttering I look like a total idiot

"Thanks..." He continued making fire

"damn it" I saw him having a hard time doing it

"It would be more difficult since there is no direct sunlight" I spoke

"Do you have any lighter?" He asked

"Maybe they have some in here" I roamed around the place to find something useful. I couldn't find any lighter or a match

Until I saw an old steel wood and a battery. I grabbed it and approached Kyson

"Look what I found!" He was confused about it

"What is this? What can you do with this?"

"We can make fire using this" I then took his place and demonstrated it to him

I first made a nest using the woods and dry grasses. Then I grabbed the battery and starting rubbing it against the steel wood to create a friction. I continued doing it until a spark appeared. I sticked it onto the nest until a fire was made

"There we go" I smiled at him. His eyes weren't lying for the amazement he felt

"Wow...Max, I didn't know that you were good at this. Where did you learn this?"

"Oh back in my country we were doing several activities that a scout must do. And the last test was to make a fire without a lighter and during night time"

"That's impressive. You really are smart huh?"

A sheepish grin was visible on my face. I felt bashful

We kept ourselves warm with the fire

As I was getting bored, I grabbed my phone 

I saw messages from Maverick. But before I could check it, Kyson snatched my phone

"What are you doing?! I told you not to open it! We could be tracked down already!"
