The night after Professor Frost's capture was restless for Ethan Thorne and his team. The victory was bittersweet, and they knew the real fight against the Eclipse Society had only just begun. The Heart of Sayre was still at risk, and Professor Hale's betrayal lingered in the back of their minds, unconfirmed but suspected.

Ethan convened a meeting with his Aurors and key faculty members in the Headmistress's office. Headmistress Whitlock, Professors Dawes, and Hale were present, along with Lila and Marcus. The room was filled with a tense energy as they discussed their next moves.

"We've secured Professor Frost, but we know there are others involved," Ethan began, addressing the group. "We need to keep the Heart of Sayre protected at all costs. Tonight, we'll set up additional wards and charms around its location."

Headmistress Whitlock nodded. "I agree. We can't let our guard down. The Eclipse Society will be more desperate now."

As they finalized their plans, Ethan couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Hale's demeanor seemed more guarded, her eyes flickering with an intensity that made him uneasy.

Later that night, Ethan, Lila, and Marcus set out to reinforce the protective enchantments around the Heart of Sayre. They moved silently through the dark corridors of Ilvermorny, their wands at the ready.

"Do you really think Hale is involved?" Lila whispered, her eyes scanning the shadows.

Ethan frowned. "I'm not sure, but we can't take any chances. We need to be prepared for anything."

They reached the chamber where the Heart of Sayre was kept, and Ethan motioned for them to stop. "We need to check for any tampering before we proceed," he said, his voice low.

Marcus nodded and began to scan the area with his wand. "Everything looks intact so far," he reported, but his voice held an edge of uncertainty.

Suddenly, the chamber door creaked open, and Professor Hale stepped inside, her face a mask of determination. "Ethan, Lila, Marcus," she greeted, her voice calm yet cold. "What a surprise to find you here."

Ethan's eyes narrowed. "Hale, what are you doing here?"

Hale's smile was devoid of warmth. "Ensuring the safety of the Heart, just as you are."

Lila stepped forward, her wand at the ready. "We know you're involved with the Eclipse Society, Hale. Surrender now, and we can help you."

Hale's expression hardened. "You're too late," she said, raising her wand. "Avada Kedavra!"

The green bolt of light shot forth, striking Marcus squarely in the chest. He crumpled to the ground, lifeless.

Ethan and Lila reacted instantly, their wands drawn. "Hale, you don't have to do this!" Ethan shouted, his voice trembling with shock and rage.

Hale's eyes blazed with an intensity that Ethan had never seen before. "I've done what I had to do," she replied coldly. "The Eclipse Society needs the Heart of Sayre for our cause."

Ethan's mind raced, trying to comprehend the betrayal. "You were working with them all along?"

Hale smirked. "Not just working with them. Leading them."

With a flick of her wand, Hale conjured ropes that bound Ethan and Lila, immobilizing them. She approached the Heart of Sayre, cradling it gently in her hands. "Thank you for bringing me this," she said to Ethan mockingly. "It will ensure the Eclipse Society's triumph."

As Hale turned to leave, Ethan struggled against his bonds, his heart heavy with grief and betrayal. "You won't get away with this," he vowed, his voice hoarse.

Hale paused at the threshold, her expression unreadable. "Perhaps not today. But the Eclipse Society is stronger than you think. Goodbye, Auror Thorne."

And with that, Hale disappeared into the shadows, leaving Ethan and Lila bound and broken amidst the echoes of Marcus's sacrifice.
