Back in the relative safety of the castle, Ethan and his team made their way to the potions classroom. The Heart of Sayre was securely hidden within a magically reinforced pouch, but the threat from Blackwood's followers was far from over.

"Professor Hale is the best potions master we have," Ethan said as they approached the classroom. "She might be able to help us protect the Heart and uncover any dark potions that Blackwood's group might be using."

Inside the classroom, shelves were lined with ingredients, cauldrons bubbled with various brews, and the air was thick with the scent of magical herbs. Professor Morgana Hale looked up from her work, her sharp eyes narrowing as she saw the group.

"Auror Thorne," she said, wiping her hands on a cloth. "What brings you here at this hour?"

Ethan wasted no time. "We've recovered the Heart of Sayre, but it's still not safe. We need your help to protect it and to understand any potions Blackwood and his followers might be using."

Professor Hale's expression softened slightly. "You've done well to find it. Show me the Heart."

Ethan carefully removed the crystal from the pouch, its blue light casting eerie shadows on the walls. Professor Hale studied it intently, her brow furrowing.

"This is indeed the Heart of Sayre. It's incredibly powerful, but also very vulnerable to dark magic," she said. "We need to create a potion that can reinforce its protective wards."

She began gathering ingredients, her movements swift and precise. "In the meantime, tell me everything you know about Blackwood's group. Any details you can provide will help us counter their potions and spells."

As they worked, Ethan recounted their encounter in the underground chamber and the clues from Lyra's journal. Professor Hale listened carefully, nodding occasionally as she added various components to the cauldron.

"This potion will enhance the Heart's natural defenses," she explained, stirring the mixture. "But it's only a temporary solution. We need to find a permanent way to protect it from being corrupted."

Lila looked up from her own work, grinding dragon scales into a fine powder. "Is there any way to destroy the Heart if it falls into the wrong hands?"

Professor Hale shook her head. "Destroying it would release a surge of uncontrolled magic that could be catastrophic. We must keep it safe and out of Blackwood's reach."

As the potion brewed, Ethan's mind drifted to the other members of the secret society. They had identified Blackwood as the leader, but he couldn't shake the feeling that there were more professors involved.

"Who else do you think is part of Blackwood's group?" Ethan asked, glancing at Marcus and Lila.

Marcus frowned. "Blackwood had to have help within the faculty. Professor Frost seemed nervous during the meeting. She might know more than she's letting on."

Ethan nodded. "We need to keep an eye on her and anyone else acting suspiciously. Trust is a luxury we can't afford right now."

Professor Hale poured the completed potion into a vial and handed it to Ethan. "This will strengthen the Heart's wards for now. Use it wisely."

Ethan took the vial, feeling a surge of gratitude. "Thank you, Professor. We'll do everything we can to protect Ilvermorny."

As they left the potions classroom, Ethan's thoughts turned to their next steps. Blackwood's plot was unraveling, but the true depth of his conspiracy was still unknown. They needed more information, and they needed it fast.

The team convened in a secure room, where Ethan outlined their plan. "We'll split up and gather intelligence. Marcus, you keep an eye on Professor Frost. Lila, check the students who were close to Blackwood. I'll dig into the school's records and see if I can find any more clues about this secret society."

They nodded in agreement, each determined to uncover the truth and protect Ilvermorny.

As Ethan delved into the school's archives once more, he came across a series of old letters between former headmasters. The letters mentioned a group called the "Eclipse Society," dedicated to harnessing forbidden magic for personal gain.

His heart raced as he realized the implications. Blackwood's followers were likely the modern incarnation of this society, and their reach extended deep into the school's history.

With newfound determination, Ethan copied the letters and rejoined his team. "We have a name: the Eclipse Society. This goes back centuries. We need to be even more vigilant."

The storm was indeed gathering, but with the Heart of Sayre and the knowledge they had gained, they were better prepared to face it. Ethan knew the road ahead would be fraught with danger, but for the sake of Ilvermorny and the memory of his sister, he would see this fight through to the end.
