Jossan

I was barely paying attention in history class, doodling little hearts in my notebook instead of taking notes on whatever war we were supposed to be learning about.

My mind kept drifting back to movie night and the way Mat's hand had felt on my thigh.

God, when did I turn into such a cliché?

Daydreaming about a boy in class. But I couldn't help it. There was just something about Mat that got under my skin in the best possible way.

As Mr. Thompson talked on about battle strategies, an idea started to form in my mind.

I scribbled a quick note and passed it to Brooke, who was sitting next to me.

"Emergency meeting after class. I have a BRILLIANT plan."

Brooke read the note and raised an eyebrow at me, but nodded. I grinned, already excited to share my master plan.

As soon as the bell rang, I grabbed Brooke's arm and practically dragged her out of the classroom.

Brooke: "Whoa, slow down! What's the big emergency?"

I pulled her into an empty classroom, checking to make sure no one was around before closing the door.

Jossan: "Okay, so you know how Mat always has extra hockey practice on Tuesday nights?"

Brooke nodded slowly, a look of suspicion crossing her face.

Brooke: "Yeah... why?"

I grinned, bouncing on my toes with excitement.

Jossan: "Well, I was thinking... what if I happened to be using the shower in the boys' locker room when he finished practice?"

Brooke's eyes widened.

Brooke: "Jossan! You can't do that! You'd get in so much trouble if you got caught."

I waved off her concerns.

Jossan: "Please. I won't get caught. And even if I did, it's not like I'd be doing anything wrong. I'd just be... using the facilities."
Brooke: "You're insane, you know that?"

I grinned.

Jossan: "Is that a yes?"

Brooke rolled her eyes, but nodded.

Brooke: "Fine. But if we get caught, I'm telling everyone this was your idea."

I squealed, pulling her into a hug.

Jossan: "Yes! You're the best, Brooke. This is going to be epic!"

For the rest of the day, I could hardly concentrate on anything else. My mind was too busy imagining all the possible scenarios that could play out.

By the time Tuesday night rolled around, Brooke and I had our plan all worked out.

We'd tell our parents we were staying late at school to work on a project, then sneak into the locker room after the rest of the team had left.

As we waited in my car in the school parking lot, I checked my reflection in the rearview mirror for the hundredth time.

Jossan: "Do you think I should have worn waterproof mascara?"

Brooke laughed, shaking her head.

Brooke: "Jossan, you're about to take a shower. I don't think your makeup really matters."

I sighed dramatically.

Jossan: "Brooke, Brooke, Brooke. Everything matters when you're trying to seduce a hot hockey player."
