Chapter 3 – New normal

Beyoncé Knowles | East Hamptons, New York

Even with my eyes closed I could still fell his brown orbs staring a whole in my head. I chuckled, turning over onto my side then opened my eyes to see him staring at me with a gummy smile on his face. I giggled mushing his head away from me.

"Stop being a creep Chris." I sat up in the bed placing my back against the headboard. His face appeared back in front of mine as he lightly straddled my lap. I looked into his eyes and I could see so many different things but the greatest one was love.

"I still can't believe you're here right now." His eyes started to swell with tears but the smile he wore never left his face. The only time I've ever seen him this joyous was when we first met and when the twins were born.

"Well I'm here and nothing like this will ever come between us now get up so I can get cleaned up." I laughed using my legs to push him off of me. He fell beside me just as Royalty pushed the twins into the bedroom.

"Good morning Ms. Bey!" She chirped with a smile on her face. I got up and made my way to her. I kissed her forehead then looked down at my baby girls fussing in their stroller.

"Hi babies!" I cooed and Rumi started to laugh whereas Kairi looked at me like I had two heads.

Soon her lip began to quiver and her wailing was heard throughout the room. I looked at Chris and he sighed, getting out of the bed, he walked over to her and lifted her in his arms and she started to calm down.

"Why did she start crying?" I asked and I felt my eyes swell with tears. I tried to swiftly wipe them away but Chris saw them. He opened his arms and I walked right into them as I silently cried.

It really hurts to see this be the reaction she showed with not being that familiar to my face. I know I was gone for a while and that Chris was the main face they saw so I can understand why she's so hesitant with me but it still hurts that I wasn't there to bond with my daughter the way I should've been able to.

"Stop crying babe." Chris rubbed my back and placed soft kissed on my forehead. "She'll be up in your arms in due time." He used his free hand and lifted my face so I could look into his eyes.

"I love you." He smiled softly. I blushed, wiping my tears away.

"I love you too." I replied, patting my face dry. He pecked my lips before resting her back inside of the stroller.

"I invited Jay and Blue over for breakfast." Chris mentioned and the feeling it would be to see my baby girl again brought immense happiness in my heart. "I didn't tell them about you because I wanted it to be surprise for them."

Omniscient

Jay walked up the stone steps to his former home with both of his children tugging at his hands. Blue skipped up the stairs with a very somber look on her face. All she knew was that her mother was asleep and may or may not wake up. Whenever she would question her father about it, the answers were always vague and it always saddened her that her worse fear was waking up to a motherless life. Although she was so young, she knew the importance of her mother in her life and she wanted Beyoncé to be there by her side as she grows older.

Jay reached the door and rang the doorbell. They waited for a moment before the door could open and revealed Chris standing with nothing but a tank top and sweats on. He had a kitchen towel over his head and the common area now smelt like fresh cookies.
