Chapter 5 – S.A.N.N.A.B.A.A.H
Beyoncé Knowles | Tarzana, Los Angeles
I closed the bedroom door and made my way downstairs into the living room where Chris was chatting with Myles and Manuel about God knows what. I had just laid the girls down for their nap and that gave me some time to have a little bit of me time. Earlier I had asked Chris to set up a little area in the yard for me to have my fifteen minutes of yoga. It's been at least two months since I left the hospital and I can shamefully say that I haven't been keeping up with my workout regimen at all. I've been slacking off and I can't have that. However I can blame Chris for all this. He has been so attentive to anything that I may need or want and although I have made it known that I'm okay with that we have he just has to provide and I comment him for that. I also have been gaining more weight and although it was uncomfortable for me to get back to my regular self. I lost a bit of mobility and flexibility due to not being active for that time so hopefully this session can be a stepping stone to get myself back in beast mode.
"Babe I'll be in the yard!" I called out. He placed his hand up with the baby monitor then waved me away. I shook my head, a smile on my face as I make my way outside.
I saw the little set up he had for me and I smiled at how cute it looked. I took my phone from my pants pocket to take a picture but instead my father's name flashed across the screen. I sighed, rolling my eyes I answered.
"Hi dad." I greeted with no enthusiasm. "I see you're still with that boy." I pulled the phone away from my ears and looked up to the bright blue sky.
"God you know my heart." I said a quick prayer before returning to my call.
"Don't start with that." I ordered. I have no idea why my parent's—my father especially, feel some way about Chris and I's relationship. It has nothing to do with them since they don't share a bed with us. So why have such a hard on for him? Chris has shown nothing but to have my best interest each and every turn of our journey.
"What you mean don't start?! He's keeping my grandchildren away from your mother and I—"
"That's because y'all don't show him any fucking respect! Y'all don't even give a fuck about me enough to call me the day after my release to see if I'm doing fine! Instead I had to wait two weeks! Two weeks after to finally hear from you." I snapped.
My father had some nerve coming at me like this. I don't care if he was my brother, best friend or stranger or ancestors, he will not disrespect me, my man or my family like he has been doing for the past months.
"Watch your tone young lady! I'm still your father and you will respect me!" I laughed darkly. "I thought I was some whore you didn't raise." I heard the sliding door open and I knew it was Chris.
"You know what Mathew?" I spat with venom laced in my voice. "Fuck you! You can do all this shit you're doing! You can take Chris and I to court tryna get rights to see our children but you will not and I mean ever! In your sad and miserable life get the chance to call me your daughter unless I can get an apology for both Chris and myself! Now fuck off my line!" I hung up and I felt a weight being lifted off my shoulders.
"I'm proud of your for sticking up yourself." Chris wrapped his arms around my body. The intoxicating smell of his amazing cologne and weed put me at ease. "I am too." I leaned back in his embrace, my back against his chest.
"You know what could make this even better?" His hot breath tickled my ear and my breath hitched in my throat. "What?" I whispered out. His facial hair tickled my skin as his lips lightly nibbled on my skin.
