Chapter 18

Zero woke up, surprised he doesn't have a headache. How does he not have a headache after being bonked on the head? He carefully stood and looked around. He was in a prison cell, obviously. But outside the prison cage, right in front of him, was another cage across from him, which was bigger and empty. The one that was beside the one in front of him wasn't only big, but wide as well, and the on just out of the corner of his eyes was the same. Beside him, A nest laid there. Really? They could at least put him in the nest! Well, Scarlet is nicer this time... the walls on each side were clear, it had an amber color tint. Clearly Deathsong amber... It also allowed him to see the on just beside him diagonally. It was empty like the others, but it had a wide bucket in it, it was made out of amber and was empty. The cell was the same size as his cell.
There was also a cell to his right. It had something in it, a dragon, and a Changewing as well. It was red, but more of a Crimson color, The had a necklace completely made of amber, they were staring at the wall. May as well make small talk while I'm here, but I'll get out soon. Just got to find a way..
'He-' Zero barely got to talk before the dragon snapped their head at him, they, or more like she, had a content, maybe even a curious face. I've awakened a crazy person...
'Oh looky here! The weird Deathsong is finally awake...So tell me, what brings you here? Broke Scarlet's rules one to many times? Annoyed her too much?' The Changewing
'I- Uh-'
'Did she just put you here for fun? Are you weird?'

'Oh! Silly me, I'm getting ahead of myself! Introductions first before any other thing!' She layer down, her head was raised. 'How about you start first.'
' I...' He sighed. It was only the polite thing to do. 'I'm Zero...'
'Zero...Eh, I'm Flare! The amazing champion of the arena, though you already know that!'
'I don't...?'
'Huh? But everyone of the island knows about me...! Even if they have never seen me before, because that wretched Scarlet-' Flare had an annoyed and slightly angry look on her face before suddenly switching back. 'Made it clear that I'm her champion and stuff. Unless you just cane to the island for the first time which I highly doubt, so why are you here'
'I was...I was just stopping by to rest while on my way from a long flight-'
Zero was interrupted by a gasp.
'S-so you are a Newcomer?! How did anger Scarlet so quickly, enough to land you here?'
'I-I just declined her offer to be a guard-'
'WHAT?!' She roared, standing up suddenly and starting to pace. 'Why. why. Why would you do that?? You could have had z better chance to escape! You could get free treatment. Life is better as a Deathguard! '
'I didn't like it so decline. Controlling others unwillingly makes a shiver go down my spine...' Zero sighed.
'But...Why...?'
'Think about this. Imagine that you were just minding your own business when a random Deathsong just hypnotizes you, then makes you try to kill your family or does something that you really hate. Would you like that?'
'No... But you're a Deathguard, not the dragon!'
'Yeah, but if I was that dragon, I would feel pain, and when other dragon feel pain, to put it simply, I feel pain in my heart.'
'...'
'See?'
'I guess...'
Zero looked around, seeing if there was a weak spot he could somehow Crack through. But they weren't bars, it was mainly clear amber walls and a amber door he couldn't break through.
'Looking for a way to escape? The only way is to melt it with AmberMelody saliva or Changewing Venom. Though I still wouldn't recommend it..'Wait what? It makes sense that our saliva can melt amber...But Changewing venom isn't too strong...I think.'Wait. If Changewing venom can break through amber, why haven't you escaped yet?'

'I've tried and almost got killed for seeming like a regular Prisoner. That's why I have this-' She put a claw on her necklace. 'thing to show the gaurds im a champion and should not be messed with. I mean for most of them. Most of the Deathgaurd don't really care since DeathGaurds are the highest of the high, not higher than Scarlet, of course..'
'I see...But don't you wanna be free?'
'I mean...I don't have to hunt myself. But, can you tell me about the outside? My group doesn't know much either.. '

'Ugh...Well there's no use...How about you tell me about yourself, why'd you want to escape, especially when they give you free meals, you don't have to hunt or really do anything but fight...'
