Cliff let go of Vivian. The moment he saw the prince and Emerald dancing, he felt a tightness on his chest. It was a very uncomfortable feeling that he wanted to ripped the prince's hands off Emerald.

He stopped in the middle of the dance with Vivian. Vivian got mad and ran away from the ballroom.

He followed her and they both got in an argument.

And now, it's such a relief that she's calm now.

He sighed. He needs to do something on this girl's whims.

"Are you now okay?" He asked her

Vivian wiped her tears. She then looked at her then suddenly kissed him.

His eyes widened. This is wrong! His mind and heart were screaming.

He pushed Vivian away.

"Stop this Vivian. I'm still engaged!" He said wiping his lips

"Why can't we? You said it was just contractual!" She said almost hysterical

"Even so! This is not right! Any of this is not right!" He said

"Why do you always choose her instead of me?!"

"We've already been in this! Let's stop this argument. We're just going in circle at this point." He said

Vivian was taken aback.

"Do you really love me, Cliff?" She asked in her soft cracked voice

Cliff sighed. He put his hand on her shoulders.

"You are precious to me. Please, I don't want us to be like this. Let's not meet for a while. To cool things off." He said

Vivian's mouth opened then shut. She stayed silent for a while then sighed.

"I'm tired. I wanna go home." She said

"I'll take you home." Cliff said

Emerald just kept on walking fast. Her feet brought her in this crystal like lake.

It was so clear that it feels like tears.

I wonder how much this place wept that a lake this clear is here.

A silly thought ran in her head.

She stared at the lake. Then at some point she felt that some of the water got on her cheeks.

But she wonders how. The water was still.

She touched her cheeks.

Ah, it's her own tears.

Why is it like this? She thought that she had already moved on. She cut off her feelings when she realized that he fell in love with Vivian.

Why is it so hard to unlove someone? Why is there no switch for the heart to stop beating for a person?

She was on her knees as she put her hands on her eyes trying to stop the tears.

It hurts. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts.

She felt like there was a lump on her throat that wanted to come out but she don't know how.

She wanted to shout but the quietness of the night made her scared that she will hear her heart still pining for him.

She stayed there crying for a while. After she calmed down she stared at the lake.

"It's really pretty right? It was not there when I first entered the palace. This place was my solace whenever I was crying. Perhaps, the water of this lake are my tears."

A voice from behind said.

It was a gentle sweet voice. Definitely belonging to a soft and warm person.

She glanced her way.

There stand a woman with purple hair and black eyes as dark as the night.

"Greetings your Majesty, the empress." She greets as she stood up but the woman stopped her and sit on the grass beside her

"No need for formalities, child. We're both just broken hearted ladies here." She said smiling

She remembered that His Majesty had a lot of mistresses. And that the crown prince was actually not the Empress' son.

I guess there are people in a way worse situation than I am.

They both sit still there looking at the lake. No one was speaking as the serenity is exactly what they needed.

After a while she finally spoke.

"Men sucks!" She said but then she took it back

"Oh I mean, no, it's not-"

The Empress laugh a little .

"It's fine. That's also what I thought." She said

"Really?"

"Yeah. You gave them your all just to find out you're still not enough. You stayed for years but he was always with someone else. You tried to cater his taste but still to no vail. They really are just scums." Her Majesty said

She gasped. She was there sitting on the grass in an undignified manner and hearing her Majesty talking sh*t about the Emperor.

But she feels great. This was the first time she talked to someone about these stuffs.

"I agree. You tried to be a good wife but still their hearts belong to someone else. They don't have the basic decency to thank us for the hard work and just go on and slap to our faces that they don't love us."

"Those m*ther f*ckers deserve to die a painful death." The empress said

She smirked

"Oh no. They don't deserve to die. That's too lenient." She said

"How so?"

"We should just let them suffer from torture for the rest of their long love lives. That's the least they can do for making us suffer all our lives too." She said with her dark menacing expression

"What if we cut their manhood?" The empress suggested

"That's a good plan."

"Yeah. It already served its purpose as this country already has a Crown Prince so now it's useless anyway." She said

Then evil laugh echoed across the quiet of the night.

A young man with a smirk on his lips was just standing a few feet behind them.

These women are dangerous.

He was there for some quite time observing those two ladies laughing. His red eyes were just fixated on them.

"Look at that, they both look good when laughing ." He said

Especially that lady with dark hair and green eyes. A refreshing warm feeling was surging within him.

Ah, the lake is shining so beautiful, tonight.
