"The sheets doesn't seem like it will suit your personality." Helios said while scanning her whole room.
He was walking around so comfortably that it almost feel like he owns the room. The real owner, Emerald was just standing there awkwardly and doesn't know how to react.
A week after her birthday, she turned down every invitation that came her way. And it includes the crown prince, but the guy doesn't have the slightest bit of common sense and he just barge in her room without prior notice citing the words:
"The maids said you were tired from your party so I made you the favor of visiting you myself. Rejoice Rossiette."
And here they are now.
"Pink was too feminine and you are everything but one. You're curtains smell good. Look at that chair. Isn't that too small? And what's with all these perfumes? How do you use all of them? You have quite the number of books here. Oh you read this poems too. I'll commend your taste. However, why is your room with real plants? Isn't having a vase with flowers more pleasing? These are just leaves, blah blah blah."
What is it that you want? Go away!
She was fighting her every urge to shout at his face.
"Your highness, as the maids said ... I need to rest so may I humbly asked the purpose of your visit? My parents are not home." She said
That means you don't have any real business here so go home!
"I'm here to see you so it doesn't matter if the duke and duchess are away." He said
Emerald can feel her vein popping in her forehead.
Just what is it that you want?!
"Actually, I'm here to warn you to be careful." He started looking at her intently
The atmosphere became serious.
"From what?" She said
"The Emperor's woman might be targeting you."
"Why is that, your highness?" She asked
He avert his gaze. He passed for a second then answered
"I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know? Please be specific. It's my life on line." She insisted
"I just... heard that you are being targeted so I will assign a shadow guard to you so he can protect you. "
"I'm having a hard time following you. First l, please tell me why am I being targeted."
".... my wo...man." he mumbled
"What?"
"Damn it! She thought you were my woman! And she's trying to use you so she can bend me!" He shouted suddenly
His ears were red from embarrassment.
What's wrong with him? Isn't that just natural given what happened to my party. Not that I mind. Those are just rumors anyway.
She sighed.
"You don't have to be too flustered your highness. I know that it's not true anyway. But this is a good chance for us. If she's targeting me maybe we can get evidence on her crimes. I'm not you so she ought to lower her guard and be a little careless in her actions towards me. It's good. That you thought things through and even assigned guards to both protect me and gather evidence." She said logically
Helios felt disappointed.
"Ah yes... Right ... That's the plan... Mhhh." He said
"You've been acting weird since earlier. What's wrong? Are you sick? Pardon me." She said as she went close to him and feel his forehead to check is temperature
"You're a bit hot. It seems like you have a slight fever. Please lay down for a while and I'll ask medicine from the maids. " She said
"Y-you're too close!" He said and slightly pushed her away
Emerald just looked at him and just go to find some medicine.
Helios was left alone in her room. She scanned the whole room once again.
Every corner just smells like Emerald. He blushed from that perverted thought.
How can he even think of that?! He's here so he can relay the message that she's in danger!
This is really ridiculous!
He went near her bed and sat down.
Well, she said I can lay down here.
He said as he slowly lay on her bed.
He felt like he was being hugged by Emerald's scent. For him, it was very relaxing and makes his mind at ease.
But if she knew of my thought shell definitely think I'm creepy. Better not say anything...
He thought as he closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.
"Let him sleep for a while. Seems like he's very tired." Emerald said when she saw Helios sleeping so soundly in her bed
You've been through a lot your highness. Rest for a while.
"And thank you for standing up for me on my birthday. I'm glad you're my partner that day." She whispered and also lay down her bed
"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" the duke exclaimed when he saw his unmarried lady of a daughter sleeping beside the unmarried youn man of a crown prince.
Well, we're in trouble now.
