“Shit, shit, shit!!!! How could I wake up so late. I have so much work today!”
With a mixture of dread and excitement in her voice, Rooh made her way to the bathroom. After a quick shower she made herself a fulfilling breakfast and got into packing her stuff since she had a flight to Lucknow due tomorrow.
ROOH’S POV
I was packing my makeup when I heard my phone ringing from the night stand. Walking up I saw Drishti di’s name flashing. Adjusting the phone between my ear and my shoulder I picked her call.
DRISHTI: Hey Rooh! What’s up? What are you doing?
ROOH: Uhhh----actually----
DRISHTI: Why are you stammering
Rooh? Is everything alright?
ROOH: Yeah di everything is alright, I was just getting ready for office. What about you?
DRISHTI: It’s Saturday Rooh!
ROOH(in mind): Oh yeah! Shit! I don’t have office on Saturdays. How can I be so dumb? And why is it a shock for me that I can be this dumb? I can’t let her know about me coming to Lucknow.
ROOH: Oh yeah! It slipped my mind. It’s Saturday today.
DRISHTI: Are you really okay?
ROOH: Yeah Di—
DRISHTI: Rooh? What is going on in that head of yours? What are you doing and not telling me? Why do you forget that I am your big sister and that I know everything about you? You stammer only when you are lying or hiding something. What is it that you are hiding from me?
I could clearly hear suspicion in her voice. Oh God! What do i say now? My brain doesn’t even work in pressure. I can’t let her know that i am coming to Lucknow.
ROOH: UHHH—Di--actually—I AM DATING A GUY!
I said with a hastiness in my voice. Banging my head on the compact box for the stupidity i did right now, I waited for di to say something. But before she could say anything I said something dumb in my nervousness again.
DRISHTI: So—
ROOH: And he is in my room right now---
Shittttttttttt…I could have said dining room, guest room….why did I have to say my room..!!?
Cursing myself over and over again I heard a voice from the other side.
DRISHTI: EXCUSE ME!? Why was am I not “AWARE” about it? And room? Your room!? Seriously, Rooh!?
And just when I was expecting another dumb statement from me, I heard myself saying.
ROOH: Uhhh---Dii—I’ll talk to you later! Bye.
Removing the phone I hanged the call as quickly I can. I heard a sigh of relief coming out of my mouth.
“That was so close!!” I said to myself. I can’t tell her that I am coming to Lucknow. It’s a surprise.
Not thinking about that much i carried on to pack my stuff. Anyways, i am going to visit her tomorrow. So, we can sought our misunderstandings tomorrow itself.
LUCKNOW
VIRANSH HOME
Running down the spiral stairs holding on to handle Vihaan started to call out his mother to tell her that Drishti’s family is ready to meet them.
VIHAAN: MAAAA...MAAAAAA!!!!
Hearing Vihaan’s excited voice Sanjana replied laughingly.
SANJANA: Yes! Yes! Stop shouting! I am here drawing room attending some guests. I swear, my boys!
