Louis sat down at the kitchen table, cup of tea in hand, and sighed as he looked out the back door. Why he was up this early he didn't have a clue.

However, he relished in the peace for a few seconds before he heard little taps of wood from the next room over.

"Dad!" Lizzie, now 3, exclaimed when she entered the kitchen to see someone else awake at 7:30.

"Hey, bug!" Louis said, setting his mug back on the table and bending down to hug her.

It was then quiet again, apart from Louis asking how she slept whilst getting her a bowl of cereal, before they both sat down at the dining table.

Louis kept watching the little one as she picked at her cereal, knowing if he even blinked that she'd be 5...then 7...and so on.

It felt like just yesterday they'd adopted her.

"Dad? What shape is the fastest?"

Oh god, Louis thought. His brain definitely not awake for this sort of question.

Lizzie had a smirk on her face, a devilish one, like she was quizzing him.

"What?" Louis asked, not sure he heard the question correctly.

"What shape is the fastest?"

Nope, okay. Definitely heard it.

He rubbed at his face slightly, "I---I'm not sure shapes have a speed, bug. I mean---unless it's an object...then I suppose it would have a-"

"It's squares!" Lizzie stated, as if he should have known that.

"Right squares, yeah." Louis took another sip of his tea, hoping that was the last of the philosophical toddler questions.

"Dada!" Lizzie squealed when the younger man entered the kitchen, wearing dark blue sleeping shorts and his "women are smarter" T-Shirt.

"Hey!" He exclaimed, bending down to the toddler and hugging her.

Harry then walked over and pecked Louis on the lips, before walking into the kitchen to make coffee.

"Daaada?" Lizzie asked, Louis thanking the gods that she wasn't asking him.

"Yesss, darling?" Harry asked in response, matching her pitch and grabbing a coffee pod from the cabinet.

"What shape is the fastest?"

Well that's a new one, Harry thought to himself as he pushed start and spun around so he'd be leaning on the counter.

"What shape? Hmm...Circle?"

Louis was shaking his head while Lizzie wasn't paying attention to him, mouthing square to his husband.

Harry wasn't paying attention either though.

"Nooo...square!" Lizzie exclaimed, again like they should know that.

Harry furrowed his brows jokingly, "but a circle's round. So it would roll."  He continued, moving his hands with his words.

Louis gave up at that point, his brain still being barley awake and him not understanding how they were actually having an argument about this.

Lizzie paused for a second, thinking about his words. He is right...but square!

"No, it's square. Square's flat, it slide."

Harry crossed his arms over his chest, "right...but what if its on level ground? Then it wouldn't go anywhere, there's no hill for it to slide down."

Is he actually thinking about this? Louis thought to himself.

"Well yeah but..." Lizzie paused, trying to think of anything to strengthen her argument.

"That's not fair, Dada, you're older than me."

Harry threw his head back with laughter as Louis nearly spit out his tea.

"Wow, Haz." Louis said once he'd swallowed the warm beverage. "And I thought I was old." He said turning out of his chair to go put his cup in the sink.

"Oh no, Dad, you are." Lizzie said casualy, going back to filling her spoon with milk and dropping it back in the bowl.

Louis' face dropped with annoyance, Harry's lips trying to suppress a smile as he turned back around to the beeping Keurig.

Harry nearly laughed when the words  circled his brain again but he managed to pour his coffee without spilling it.

He heard dishes clatter in the sink, before Louis' feet padded away.

"Alright come here you little bugger." He heard Louis say, before a squeal was heard.

Harry turned around quickly, only to see Lizzie thrown over Louis shoulder as she giggled.

"Noo, no tickles!!" Lizzie pleaded through another fit of giggles.

"You want to call me old, do you?" He heard Louis say from the living as he smiled to himself.

They're basically the same person.

And Harry's so glad their both his.

Hi! Short family fic. Just like a casual Sunday morning. I saw a video on Instagram of a Dad who was reenacting his child asking him that question and I thought it would make a cute short so hope you enjoyed! 😂💚💙
