Barry does marry Iris. He does love her. But not as much as Leonard Snart. They had a relationship before he went with the legends. And before he sacrificed himself.
Barry was chilling in the pipeline after he had to phase himself into it. He was eating Big Belly Burger and reading.
"tt What? oh come on Girl!" Barry says as he reads
"You're reading Mick's book?" Nora asks
"This is surprisingly well written" Barry says showing the book. Nora just sits down ouside of his cell. "What's going on?"
Nora sighs "Just having a hard time believing some people can change"
"How come?"
"Cuz after everything that you've seen don't you think that bad people stay bad?"
"Not always. When I first met Leonard Snart he was a criminal. Probably the worst criminal in the city but you know I knew there was a good person in there somewhere and look at him turned out to be a legend. Died a Hero" Barry says as he looks out into the distance lost in thought. Nora was about to talk when Barry started again...
"Len wasn't all bad anyways, he did what he had to do to survive and protect him and his sister from their father. Man Lewis was awful. Lewis would never change. But. Len did. He hated that I saw the good in him" Barry got a dopey smile on his face. "Always told me 'There's no strings on me'. Sara told me those were his last words. The amount of times he told them to me was..well I can still hear his voice. He also changed from having a cold heart to having a really caring heart no pun intended. Sure Len and I had an agreement for him to not kill and i wouldn't send him to jail. But he got his act together. I just wish he was still around."
Barry started to think back to before Len went off with the Legends. Thought back to before Len broke off their relationship. Thought back to the multiple nights in each others arms. He missed Len like crazy. He was going to marry him one day but the universe had other ideas for him. He was happy now but always knew that he was supposed to marry Len. He was bi and loved Iris but loved Len way way more.
Barry stared into the distance lost in flash backs.
Nora was confused. She got up and left. She went straight to her mom who was in the lounge.
"Hey mom?"
"Oh hey Nora!"
"Is Dad gay, bi, or something?"
"What?! No! Nora hunny your father is straight. Why else would we have you one day?"
"Well um...The way he talks about Leonrad Snart or Len as he calls him kinda gave me the feeling that they might have been a thing."
"That..." Iris thinks back to before they go together. "That may be true but He loves me now. He married me. Snart knew Barry was the flash and he was the only one allowed to call him Scarlet. I called him that once and he yelled at me."
"I think Dad was in love with him. You didn't see the goofy grin on his face. And after he was done talking I think he was thinking back to him. I can not unsee the fact that he bit his lip. mom i am traumatized." Nora says
To say the least they never brought it up with Barry. And to say Barry ran to the past to whenever Len was and had sex with him no one was the wiser.
