Percy's POV
"Perseus Jackson, get your dank butt up here!!" Annabeth yells from our room, her voice piercing through my eardrums.
"Yes, ma'am," I say, rolling my eyes and heaving myself off the couch. Annabeth has been extremely bossy these last few months of her pregnancy. I swear, she's been possessed by the spirit of a drill sergeant. She's always screaming for one thing or another - ice cream, foot massages, you name it. The baby is due any day now, so I've tried to be patient with her. I mean, I've heard pregnancy hormones can make women a little...testy.
As I trudge up the stairs, Annabeth lets out a gasp that could shatter glass."Oh my gods, Percy, my water just broke!" she shrieks, sounding like she's about to give birth to a tap-dancing octopus. My eyes widen to the size of dinner plates.
"Oh my gods, coming right up," I mutter, sprinting into our room. Annabeth is sprawled out on our bed, breathing like a beached fish."Are you, uh, feeling okay?" I ask, trying to sound calm. I've seen less chaos in the midst of a Medusa fight.
"Perseus, how do you think I'm feeling? I'm going into labor, of course I'm not feeling okay!" She lets out a scream that could curdle milk at a hundred paces.
"Okay, okay, sorry. Let's just get to the hospital before you decide to name the baby after me," I say, trying to inject a little humor into the situation.
Annabeth just gives me a death glare.
*Time skip*
After seven hours of Annabeth screaming at me (I'm pretty sure I've lost a few layers of eardrum), screaming in pain (I'm now an expert on the entire range of human suffering), and threatening to turn me into a toad (I'm starting to take that one seriously), Annie and I finally get to meet our baby boy. He's tiny, adorable, and already has his mom wrapped around his little finger. We decide to name him Charles, (Charlie for short) Beckendorf Jackson. Because nothing says "I'm going to have a long life" like having a name that takes an hour to write on a test.
"All those hours of pain were totally worth it," Annabeth whispers, gazing lovingly at Charlie. I'm a little miffed that she's already forgotten the "I'm going to name him Percy Jr." threats.
I nod, smiling at my little family. "Yeah. We now have an adorable baby because of it. And a lifetime supply of therapy appointments."
"My boys are so amazing," Annabeth coos, snuggling Charlie closer.
I lean over and kiss the top of her head. "Yeah, we're a real trio of awesomeness. Now let's just hope Charlie gets his smartness from his mom."
