The moment I step outside, I'm greeted by the familiar scent of salt and seaweed. It feels like a warm embrace, a comforting reminder of home and of Percy. Living in a house by the beach has its perks, and this scent is one of them.
As I look around, I spot Percy leaning against the porch railing, fully engrossed in something.
"Hey, Seaweed Brain," I call out, and his face lights up as he turns to greet me, pulling me into a tight hug.
"Hey, Wise Girl," he says with a smile. "I didn't expect to see you until tomorrow."
I explain that work got cut short and ask about what he's working on. He shows me some blueprints for the camp, discussing improvements and a new training arena. "This is our life," I think to myself, "constantly building and fighting for our world."
Curious, I ask Percy about the whereabouts of everyone else.
He speculates that Piper and Jason are likely at their house right next door trying to outdo each other with extravagant dishes.
The cheerful chatter from the Grace house is infectious, and it feels good to be back among family. As we approach the living room, Piper holds out a small, intricately knitted, blue blanket, and my heart skips a beat.
"Piper," I whisper, trying to contain my excitement, "Is- is this...?"
Before I can finish, Jason jumps in, affirming that it's a baby blanket and that it's for their little one.
Overwhelmed with happiness, I pull Piper into a tight hug, expressing my utmost joy for them both and assuring Jason that he is going to be an amazing dad.
Percy pulls out a chair for me, and we all sit down to share in their excitement. "In about four months," Piper beams, "and we couldn't be more thrilled."
Eeee! Charlie will have a best friend to play with soon.
