Vera quickly rushed into his arms "I am so sorry mother wanted to leave straight away and I couldn't find you and Aegon and I didn't want to leave without a goodbye " Vera told the boy in one breath.
Said boy, letting a smile on his face grow "I know, I was told by my sister about the move and you have no need to apologies." The boy told her softly as the girl hid her head in his chest as Aemond's hand softly rubbed the back of her head.
A dragon's roar was heard in the distance which interrupted the moment between the two friends. Looking up at the sky she started to realize that it was getting late, and that her brother would worry that she had not retired to bed yet.
"I think it's time for us to retire," Vera told the boy as she turned the castle entrance.
"I think I might stay out here for a little longer, enjoy the view," Aemond said softly "Goodnight Vera" The boy spoke
"See you in the morrow Aemond" The young girl spoke as she walked to the room she was assigned.
When Vera entered her shared room she was crushed in a hug from her two brothers.
"What took you so long?" "We were worried" Both brothers spoke at the same time as they held their sister. They had both been worried that somehow their sister had gotten hurt on the way to their room and they both agreed not to sleep till they saw Vera again.
"I just got lost, but we should go to bed or else Mother will be mad" Vera tells the boys as she makes her way to the small washroom. She quickly changed out of her day clothes into a light dress to sleep in. By the time Vera got back into the room her brothers were lying in bed waiting for sleep to hit them.
Sleep never came easy to the young princess. Whether it be a nightmare or the nights was too hot ,she could never seem to get to sleep. So some days she took to walking the halls. The halls were always peaceful at night, the air had a hint of salt from the ocean that surrounded the island.
As Vera walked closely to the balcony closest to her and saw something that brought a smile to the young girl's face. Someone had claimed Vhagar.
Aemond had claimed a dragon.
Vera watched as the dragon made it's to land and the young girl ran to the small beach to greet her friend. "Aemond!" The girl yelled, "You did it!" She added waving her arms around in excitement.
Aemond had never felt more free, he had claimed a dragon, not only that but the largest dragon. His brother could no longer make fun of him. His nephews would never laugh at him again, because what are their dragons compared to his. As Aemond climbed down the ladder he heard yells from the young princess, he didn't think it was possible for his smile to get any larger but it did. Vera had witnessed him flying a dragon.
Once Aemond got off his dragon Vera's hand wrapped around the young boy's body. The girl was vibrating with excitement "Aemond I can't believe it, you did it! You have a dragon!" The girl couldn't help but let out a little laugh with a giant smile.
"I know" Aemond spoke with a laugh as the boy gently let go of the girl "Can you come with me when I tell my mother?" Aemond asked the young girl who immediately nodded
"She's going to be so happy!" Vera told the boy who just smiled at her as she grabbed his hand.
Vera and Aemond started to make their way towards the castle though they didn't make it far because they ran into their cousins and Vera's brothers.
"It's him" One of the girls spoke as Vera went to her brother's to see what was going on.
"I''s me" Aemond spoke arrogance in his tone only then did it click who the previous rider of Vhagar was. Laena. Vera felt hundreds of emotions wash over her at once. Vhagar hadn't been riderless for very long even then it was only fair that Rhaena could try to claim the dragon first.
"Vhagar was my mother's dragon" Rheana spoke as if confirming Vera's thoughts.
"Your mother's dead" The prince spoke, and Vera turned to look at him looking to see if he held any empathy in his eye's. He didn't. "and Vhagar has a new rider now"
"She was mine to claim" Rheana spoke glaring at the boy.
"Then you should of claimed her" Aemond spoke harshly. Vera couldn't help but glare at the boy. She knew what he had been through without a dragon, and she was happy for him but guilt was eating her up inside, the dragon's old rider hadn't even been dead a week and Aemond had claimed her.
"maybe your cousins can find you a pig to ride. It would suit you" That sentence seemed to set the girl off as she ran at Aemond only for him to push him to the ground, Bela then ran at the boy punching him in the nose, who let out a noise of pain and punched the girl back.
"Come at me again and I'll feed you to my dragon" Aemond spat. At the threat Jace ran at Aemond who only kicked him to the ground then Lucerys joined in screaming as he ran at Aemond who grabbed onto the youngest boy and punched him in the nose.
"All of you cut it out before someone gets seriously hurt," Vera said as she ran up to her youngest brother to see if he was okay. Jacaerys ignored his sister and pushed Aemond to the ground as he and the girl all started punching him.
Vera who saw this happening ran up to them and grabbed the younger kids holding them, she put herself in front of Aemond so they couldn't throw any more punches "Stop-" the princess was cut off when Aemond kicked her harshly causing her to fall to the ground her head hit the ground and the world around her became blurry.
Lucerys who witnessed this ran up to Aemond only to be held in the air by the neck he slowly picked up a rock. "You will die screaming in flames just as your father did! Bastards" Aemond spat sending a look towards Jace.
"My father's still alive" cried Luke, Vera stood up again glaring at the blonde boy whom she could make out of the blurriness surrounding her.
"He doesn't know does he, Lord Strong?" He spoke directly at Jacaerys as the younger boy grabbed his dagger.
"Jace, Vera" The twins yelled as Aemond made his way toward the pair. Vera watched as Aemond dogged the swings of Jacaerys dagger and pushed him to the ground. Vera then got in the way of Aemond and her brother she pushed as hard as she could only to make him stumble a bit.
Aemond shifted his glare to the girl as he pushed her to the ground, the girl's head hit the ground harshly once again from the shove and the world around her started to fade in and out.
Lucerys watched as his sister's eyes struggled to stay open, he noticed the girl's once white hair slowly turning red. He crawled around to grab his brother's dagger and lifted it. Vera saw the boy's figure looming over her, wanting to stop him she grabbed a handful of sand and chucked it in the boy's eye blinding him. The world then went black.
As Aemond turned to try to rub the sand out of his eye Luke swung the dagger at him slicing his eye, screaming Aemond fell to the ground clutching his eye.
As the guards enter the room and started breaking up the fight Vera slowly comes back to her senses the world still fuzzy. She and the rest of the kids were dragged into the main hall waiting to see what fate had install for them.
