Vera could feel the tension building in the room, she stood next to her brother's was Jacaerys holding her hand tightly trying to gain any comfort he could from the older girl and Lucerys, sweet little Luke was holding his sisters dress for dear life. Trying to gain the love he so desperately needed after what had happened during the night. The maester had quickly stitched her head up before going to look after the young prince.
"How could you allow such a thing to happen, I will have answers." Viserys demanded of the kings guard who all look ashamed about what happened.
"The princess and the princes were supposed to be abed, my king." The kings guard responded.
"Who had watch" Viserys questioned again.
"Young prince was attacked by his own cousins, your grace" Ser Cristion Cole spoke.
"You swore oaths to protect and defend my blood!" Viserys yelled back at him, Vera slightly flinched at the yelling around her.
"I'm very sorry, Your Grace. The King's guard has never had to defend princes from princes and princess, Your Grace." One of the knight told the king.
"That is no answer" Viserys spoke again about the excuses the guards were using.
"It will heal, will it not, maester?" Alicent asks Kelvyn, Vera was wondering the same thing, yes she was angry at Aemond for harming her brothers but he was still a friend. She thinks.
"The flesh will heal. But the eye is lost, Your Grace" The maester responded solemnly, Vera looks to the ground regretfully as Alicent storms over to Aegon.
"Where were you?" Alicent spoke harshly to her oldest son.
"Me?" The boy asked confused on why he was getting yelled at. Vera winced as Alicent slapped Aegon, she felt bad for her best friend she just hoped Aegon would still want to be considered her best friend after everything that had happening.
"Ow! What was that for?" Aegon asked as he looked at his mother sadly.
"That was nothing compared to the abuse your brother suffered while you were drowning in your cups, you fool." Alicent spoke harshly to her son. The door then opens and in walk Corlys and Rhaenys.
"What is the meaning of this?" The lord of tides questioned as he walked down the stairs of his castle.
"Baela, Rhaena! What happened?" The queen who never was spoke worriedly about her grandchildren.
Once again more people walked though the door "Jace, Luke, Vera" Finally Vera's mother was here, but Vera couldn't help but look at the man who followed in behind her mother. It was her Uncle Daemon. But where was her Father.
As Rhaenyra focused on her younger children Vera couldn't help but stare at the door waiting for her father to enter the room. He never did. Vera loved her father almost as much as her mother. He read to her, took her for rides on his dragon and sometimes he would teach he little bits about sword fighting. But it seemed that whenever she was in need of his comfort, whenever she wanted a hug from her father, he was never in sight.
