6 months after the letter
Vera would be lying if she said she wasn't stalling. She and Cinis flew slower than usual, enjoying the last moments of freedom she would get. She would be married later this week. She would no longer be able to walk down the hall to see her family she would have to fly.
Aegon for the life of him couldn't remember what today was, he had a feeling that something was going to happen but he hadn't a clue what. His mother was yet to rush in and yell at him for going out to the streets of silk.
Stretching his limbs he slowly exited the bed and made his way to the clothes that maids must of set out for him earlier in the morning. The soft tunic felt cold against his skin. He made his way to his door the heavy door creeping open. In the hall maids were rushing around talking about a guest.
Who was to visit Aegon silently asked. Finally he saw someone he knew Aemond was marching down the hall. "What is going on brother did I miss an invitation?" The older brother asked, Aemond let out an annoyed sigh and continued walking, the envy for his older brother sinking in.
Aegon though was quick to follow "You must know what is going on" He spoke again slightly out of breath from trying to keep up with his brothers large steps. Aemond pitted Vera for the marriage she was about to be placed into. Aegon held no love for anyone.
"Your future wife is coming, or have you forgotten you to be a husband at the end of the week" With that Aemond stormed down the hall fast then his brother could walk.
Aegon had forgotten about his niece visiting. He knew they were getting married, how could he forget, he was going to marry the only person in world to hold love for him, even if it was when they were younger. Aegon just hopped that hadn't changed.
Vera sighed as Cinis landed outside the dragonpit. There was no turning back now. The young girl moved of her dragon and gently descended to the ground, an sigh of happiness gone. "Go fly around boy, find a place you like" The girl spoke in common tongue not having the energy to speak otherwise. Vera walked towards the carriage that was to take her to the main keep. The sound of Cinis taking off behind her.
As she entered the small room she let the horrible thoughts consume her about what her marriage was to become.
In the minutes since finding out that Vera was arriving Aegon quickly ran to the gardens, he knew from her letter to his sister that she still loved flowers, he made his way though the main gardens to a small bed were grew a few flowers, they were the same as the one she gave him in childhood. He picked a few from the ground and made his way back to the main hall.
As a maid went to pass he quickly held out his hand to stop her, "Put these in the princesses room" HE commanded before he was dragged away by his mother who started to scolder hi about how he was to greet his future wife.
Aegon watched as the a carriage made its way into the red keep a small smile was on his face as he remember who was in their. What everyone seemed to miss was Aemond as he entered the courtyard eyes full of envy and jealousy at his brothers luck.
Why should Aegon get to marry Aemond's best friend surely Aemond was the better option, Aegon was a drunk, he spent most nights in the company of his whores in the street of silk and showed no interest in anything. How was that fair to the girl who was once Aemond's everything.
If it was Aemond's way he would of made himself an option for her hand then maybe they would both be happy.
Vera felt the carriage stop she slowly left the carriage with a fake smile plastered on her face. She slowly stood up as high as she could as she opened the door to the carriage. As Vera stepped out of the carriage she was meet with arms hugging her. Helena couldn't wait to see her dear friend didn't wait before rushing forward to give her a hug. Vera finally felt a true smile replace her fake one at her aunts hug.
Aegon didn't know what to do he stood in front as his sister embraced the women he would soon be married to, was he to go give her a hug, did he greet her with a kiss on the knuckle, did he bow? Aegon's mind was made up as sister released the girl.
"Princess" Aegon's mother spoke Vera gave the women a small bow. Aegon took a step forward and spoke to the girl
"Vera" The prince spoke as he bowed Infront of the girl. Vera gave the boy a small smile before she was dragged off with his sister.
Maybe life wouldn't be to hard with her around.
