Chapter 28: Different Worlds Again

"Aunty maine saara saman taxi ke andar rakh diya hai." Said Jay after putting all the suitcases inside the the taxi.

Rita Ji's thoughts were broken by Jay's words. She gave the house keys to Mahi and said, "Dhyan se rehna Beta."

Mahi nodded and said, "Maa aap meri fikar mat karo. Bas Bhai ka treatment acche se karwana."

Saying that, she caressed Sid's head while he gave a slight smile.

Sid and Rita Ji were going to New York for Sid's treatment. After that incident, Jay did all the arrangements with the money Sana's father gave him. But he didn't tell anyone the truth as he promised to Sana. He convinced them saying that he contacted some NGO who were ready to sponsor Sid's treatment. It was not that much convincing as it was a huge amount but their happiness didn't let them think much. What mattered to them was that their Sid would be able to speak after this treatment.

They were about to leave when Jay said, "Dhyan se jaana aap dono. Aur waha New York mein maine saara intezam kar diya hai. Aap dono ko koi problem nahi hogi."

Rita Ji smiled and said, "Kitna saath de raha hai tu humare iss mushkil waqt mein. Mera khud ka beta naa hote hue bhi tu ek bete wala farz nibha raha hai. Aur dusri taraf teri behen..."

Rita Ji stopped and everyone's faces turned sad. Jay's situation was worse as he couldn't tell anybody in spite of knowing the whole truth.

Rita Ji ignored the topic as Sid would get hurt more and said, "Hum chalte hai. Chal Sid."

Sid nodded in yes and they got inside the taxi. Soon they left from there.

"Aaj kitna khushi ka mauka hai. Lekin hum mein se koi puri tarah se khush nahi hai." Said Mahi sadly. "Aaj agar Sana yaaha pe hoti toh yeh khushi kuch aur hi hoti. Samajh nahi aa raha Sana aisa kaise kar saki? Jis se pyaar ke itne waade kiye uss hi ka dil tod diya? Behen samjha tha maine usse aur Maa ne apni Beti jaisi maana tha. Hum sab ke pyaar ka yeh sila diya usne?"

Jay looked at Mahi helplessly.

"Kaash main tumhe sab sach baata paata. Aaj sirf uss hi ki wajah se Sid ka treatment ho raha hai. Par yeh sach main tum logo ko nahi baata sakta. Agar baataunga toh tum log sayad unn paison se treatment hi nahi karwaoge. Isliye mujhe tumse, tum sab se yeh baat chhupani hogi. I'm sorry." He said in his mind.

Meanwhile...

Sid was looking outside the taxi's window blankly. Suddenly he thought something and uttered, "Maa..."

Rita Ji looked at her and asked, "Kya hua Beta?"

"Aap inhe humare college ke raaste se jaane ke liye kahengi?" He asked in sign language.

"Lekin woh toh opposite mein hai. Waha se ho ke jaayenge toh time zyada lagega."

"Please."

Seeing Sid's face, Rita Ji understood his feelings and said to the driver, "Bhaiya aap SKS college se ho ke chaliye."

The taxi driver nodded and changed the route.

The taxi passed by the college when Sid brought his face outside and kept looking at the college with teary eyes.

Chaahiye kisi saaye mein jagah
Chaaha bahut baar hai

He remembered the first day when Sana entered the college. He remembered how their relationship changed slowly. From strangers to friends, then lovers and then strangers once again.
