Scene XI

Young America POV

Confederate and I are in the car with Mom driving us to China's birthday party. She has been talking non-stop about China and I feel like Mom is even irritated by her. Thankfully, we made it to his house where it is nicely decorated with golden and red balloons. Confederate rushes to the door, ringing it constantly. I grumble, having to take the presents she got for him out of the back trunk. Confederate got tons of things for China while I could only afford one. She went to the mall yesterday with Mom and spent all the money Father gave her this week on China's presents. She bought a crazy amount of things that I can't even count.

Father only gave me 50 to spend. So, using half of my own savings, I bought something for China. I had to make sure it was perfect for him. The price didn't matter. The only thing that matters is how much he likes it.

I stack the boxes on top of each other. The biggest at the at the bottom and the smallest on the top. I put the present I got for him in my pocket before I slipped both my arms with the bags of accessories Confederate bought. I take a deep breath before lifting the boxes up. "By mom!" I say, my voice muffled behind all these boxes.

"Au revoir Amérique," Mom sings sweetly, pressing the button to close the trunk. I slowly make my way towards China's house by looking at a gap between the boxes. I can clearly see China scolding Confederate before coming towards me and taking a few of the boxes of presents from my hands.

"Happy birthday China," I smile.

He smiles back, "thank you 美国." He leads me into his house and tells me to give the presents to the palace servants. Italy, Estonia, Finland, and Philippines are chatting while Confederate angrily glares at me. I frown. She must be jealous of me. I didn't even do anything! "Come this way to my treehouse." China says, leading the way down a long hall.

I stay at the end of the group, marveling at the art painted on the walls. There are dragons, mythical creatures, and a really long wall. There are also drawings of women dressed in traditional Chinese clothing in all sorts of colors. Most importantly, as I ventured down the hall I realized how these colors soon turn blood red with sparkles of gold and golden dragons running along the walls. This must be China's side of the palace. I know how much he likes golden dragons and the color red. We make it outside where there's a very big tree with a treehouse. China hits the lamp on one of the many open doors and a ladder comes down.

"Follow me!" China hums, getting up the ladder. We follow him up the wooden steps. The garden is beautiful from up here. I can see all the beautiful flowers and garden walls. It's magnificent!

"It's you again," I hear someone say.

I turn to look at him. "Hi Taiwan!" I smile.

He smirks, "are you officially dating my brother now?"

I blush, "we aren't dating."

He shrugs, "I can tell you two like each other. It's so obvious." He wiggles his eyebrows at me, causing my cheeks to flush a deep red.

I groan, "he doesn't like me. He likes someone else."

"Then why isn't she here?" He asks, squinting his eyes and rubbing his chin.

"Maybe an emergency came up," I shrug. That's why Cuba isn't here. I hope he's okay.

He rolls his eyes, "you're just as clueless as him. Literally everyone knows!"

"Know what?"

"Nevermind," he grumbles.

China leads us into the treehouse. There are tables full of food, rows of the games I suggested, and a mat on the ground for us to sit. "Any games you'll like to play first?" China asks.
