Life Changes

"Everything's in the truck.  I did one last look around to make sure we didn't miss anything, but you can double check." I shake my head as I stand getting one last glance of the field.  Who knows when I'll be back here.  He comes up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and rests his chin on my shoulder. "We can come hide here whenever you want Ava."  I turn my head to look up at him and smile.

"I know in theory I can.  But in reality, it's gonna be a long time."  I turn in his arms, rest my hands on his hips.  "I don't think I need another look around.  Whatever I may have left will be here when we come back.  I can always replace stuff."  He steps back, taking my hands in his and pulls me towards the truck.

"Then lets get going Baby."

When we get to the truck he opens the door and puts me in my seat.  "Buckle up babygirl."  My heart stops at the nickname. "Don't, I'm sorry but don't call me that.  Anything but that." He nods once.

"I'm sorry Ava, I forgot."  I give him a small smile.  He closes the door and hops in on his side.  The rest of the ride is quiet.  I didn't mean to make things awkward, I just couldn't help it.  Moving on is hard enough, when I already feel guilty for doing it so soon.  I loved being called babygirl or little one by Rome.  He was the first to do it.  He's also going to be the last.  That life is gone, and so is everything that came along with it.  Abel and I will make our own memories, traditions and nicknames.

After two hours we finally arrive back at the pack house.  Leo and Michael wait outside for us. I start to unbuckle my seat belt when Abels hand rests on mine.  I look up raising my brows. "I didn't mean to upset you with the name Baby, I really didn't.  I just wasn't thinking about what he called you.  But I know why he called you that.  You're my little."  He looks away for a second and smiles when he looks back at me. "You're my little girl.  everything about you is little, and I love it.  Would that be okay."  I giggle  looking at our hands.  They really are little compared to his.

"Yes, I think that would be good."  He pecks my lips.  I pull away as my door starts to open.  I turn to see Leo,  a huge smile on his face with his hands up in the air ready to help me down.

"Welcome back Luna."  I smile allowing him to help me down.  He plants me on my feet and takes a step back.  He bows his head stoically, before going back to his jolly ways.  "Come on, there's a few things I've been dying to show you."  Abel appears next to me, his hand on the small of my back. "Abel! Welcome back!"

"Thanks.  Hows the pack doing?"  Leo starts to walk and we follow suit.

"Quiet.  Everyone is aware of the events that transpired, and nobody could blame their Luna for taking time away to clear her head.  Quint made sure to let us all know that he would be more than happy to take back control.  He tells anyone who will listen."  I clench my jaw, and feel my gums start to burn.  My fangs start trying to cut through.

"Ava, breathe."

"Have him brought to the office once we finish our catch up."  I need to nip this in the bud right away.  I have no tolerance for him.

"Yes Luna."  Getting to the front door Michael stands up straight and bows his head.

"Hello Michael, how have you been?"  He raises his head again, easing his stance.

"Very good Luna, I hope you find everything to your liking inside.  I did the remodel as you described.  Anything you aren't happy with I can change or replace."  I smile and nod my head.

"Thank you Michael. I'm sure it's all perfect."

"Michael, get some of the guys to get lunch ready, and bring it up to the office. And get a hold of Quint.  Tell him to be here in three hours at the Luna's request."  Michael nods and quickly makes his way inside disappearing down a hallway.  "After you Luna."
