Few days following the New Year's Eve party were a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation for me. I couldn't stop thinking about Sydney and my next encounter with her, if there any. Determined to stay in shape and clear my mind, we hit the gym with Robinson and Harper.
I was in the middle of a grueling set of fifty sit-ups, with Harper supporting my legs and counting each rep. The rhythmic motion and the burn in my abs helped me focus.
"Forty-eight... forty-nine... fifty!" Harper called out and I collapsed back onto the mat, panting. I took a swig from my water bottle, feeling the cool liquid soothing his parched throat.
Harper sat down next to me, a knowing smile on my face. "So, how did things go with Sydney on New Year's Eve?" he asked me with curiosity evident in his voice.
I grinned, recalling the magical night. "It went really well. So magical. We talked for hours, got to know each other better. And also, I appreciated her elegant talent on sketching and fashion, and there's just something about her that I can't get enough of."
Harper raised an eyebrow, impressed. "Nice, man. Sounds like things are moving in the right direction."
Just then, Robinson approached us, wiping sweat from his forehead after finishing a set of squats. "Hey guys, what are we talking about?" he asked, dropping onto the bench beside them.
I turned to Robinson, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I was just telling Harper about my time with Sydney. But enough about me. How did things go with Hannah? I saw you two together at the party."
Robinson's face turned red, and he rubbed the back of his neck with a mix of excitement and nervousness. "It was... interesting. She clung to me most of the night, and we had some good conversations. I think she might actually like me, and moreover I couldn't get enough with her mesmerizing red hair."
Harper smirked. "About time, Rob. You've been crushing on her forever, that red-head like a mermaid like Ariel."
Robinson laughed nervously. "Yeah, I guess I was just waiting for the right moment. New Year's Eve turned out to be perfect."
Harper and I exchanged knowing glances. "That's great, man," Harper said, clapping Robinson on the back. "Sounds like you both had a good start to the New Year."
I felt a sense of camaraderie with my friends. They were all experiencing the thrill of new relationships, and it felt good to share in each other's happiness.
