Island In The Sun - Weezer
Lee Heeseung was the epitome of popularity at our school, with a charm that made him every girl's ideal. His flawless features, unmatched charisma, and remarkable skills made him the center of attention. From friendship to admiration, everyone either wanted to be close to him, date him, or emulate his persona. Since his arrival, no one has ever come close to surpassing his popularity.
The conversations in the hallway? They all circulate around Heeseung. Commenting on how he's so perfect and how they'd let him do anything to them. He always hears these side conversations about him, but he never does anything about it. He's always too busy talking with his friends or maybe playing basketball. Although, he does flirt with the girls in the corridors just for the entertainment of it. Does he mean it? No, but should he mean it? Probably. But then, it's Lee Heeseung, of course he'd do this.
Today was the new school year, except it was like any other day; Heeseung waking up late and almost missing the bus. It happens regularly to the point where his bus driver knows he has to wait 10 extra minutes just to wait for him. Not like anyone cares though, his highschool is just another place you can call hell.
Heeseung quietly steps on the bus and everyone immediately starts to whisper, mentioning every slight detail about him. How his hair is slightly messier than usual, his clothes a bit wrinkled, his eye bags being visible, every single possible thing. But he doesn't care, he's used to it.
As usual, he makes his way to the back of the bus and sits down near a window seat. Nobody ever wants to sit next to Heeseung, they think he'll probably snap and yell at them if they do. They find him imitating for some reason despite everyone saying he's some cute bambi boy that they can place in their pocket. Jay would sit next to Heeseung, but he got moved to a different bus due to them making too much noise. As if it's not as loud.
As they make their way to the school, the scenery of trees and buildings pass by, filling Heeseung's eyes with awe. The different lighting of the lights inside made the place stand out more. The sky was still pretty dark, so the street lamps were still lit up. After what seemed like forever, they finally stopped in front of the school. Everyone's eyes land on Heeseung as they exit the bus.
Heeseung stepped off the bus, the cool morning air hitting his face. The usual swarm of admirers and curious onlookers was already forming around him. He gave them a lazy smirk, a practiced move that always sent them into a frenzy.
As he walked through the school gates, the familiar cacophony of high school life washed over him. The chatter, the laughter, the occasional shout – it was a soundtrack he'd grown accustomed to. He spotted his friends, Jay and Sunghoon, lounging by the lockers, their presence a comforting anchor in the chaos.
"Hey, sleepyhead," Jay greeted him with a grin as he was the first one to notice his presence.
Heeseung ruffled Jay's hair in response. "Shut up," he mumbled, but there was a fondness in his voice.
Sunghoon simply raised an eyebrow. "You look like you got hit by a truck, everything good?" he commented, his tone laced with amusement.
Heeseung groaned. "Blame the bus driver. He's got a thing for making me late."
They laughed, the sound echoing through the bustling hallway. As they walked towards their first class, Heeseung couldn't help but feel a sense of detachment. This was his life, his reality. The constant attention, the superficial relationships – it was all a part of the package. But beneath the confident exterior, there was a part of him that longed for something more genuine, something deeper.
