Do you remember that girl?
That girl who laughed with you
Made inside jokes with
Laughing til we can't breathe
Saying things only we understand
Do you remember that girl?
The girl who cried with you
On your hardest nights
She was always right there with you
Holding your hand
With a box of tissues
And a container of ice cream
She hated seeing you in so much pain
So she was always there
Do you remember that girl_
The girl who got you gifts
Never missed your birthday
And on the randomest of days
Handing you a smile
Now the gifts are discarded
Thought they were held safe in your heart
Do you remember
The girl who was your best friend
Always talking
In class
Always together
Whenever we could
Always hanging out on the weekends
Always happy just you and I
Guess what?
That's me.
The girl you threw aside.
Like an old paper in the trash
The girl you left to cry.
Not staying with me,
Telling me 'just toughen up'
Not helping me
When I helped you
Just leaving me,
Alone.
The girl you 'forgot to give gifts'
Couldn't remember my birthday
Saying you were too busy
But I was never too busy for you.
The girl you now laugh at
Tease and make fun of
When I could never
Do that to you.
Cause I know
It would break your heart
The same way it broke mine.
All that girl wants to ask
Is do you remember me?
Cause I sure as hell remember you
