The students collected outside chatting about their tests, hoping for the best before they would find out where they were.

Sam was standing in the middle of the crowd, scared to tell his sister what happened in there so he had been avoiding her and Nory fearfully. He didn't want her to be disappointed in him or think of him as less than for his wonky magic, his heart wouldn't be able to handle it if Reina didn't approve of him.

The main doors flung open after a while, the headmaster strutting out with the other professors behind her as she talked in a cheerful loud voice. "Attention everyone."

The teens moved closer with eager eyes and their placement cards in hand. They watched as all the stallite students of the academy assembled around them proudly in their school colors. They marched confidently with some waving their respective flags above them, somewhat blinding Sam with the bright colors.

With a smile on her face and the other five professors flanking her, headmaster Knightslinger continued her speech in front of the entrance way as the noon sun shone gloriously upon her face and the students excited expressions.

"It's always a joy to meet the new class today is no exception," she grinned and swung her arms around enthusiastically. "Well perhaps there were a few.. regardless, please take a look at your cards and find out where you have been placed!"

All the kids tore their eyes away from her to hurriedly look at the once blank cards in their hands, magically the name of they school they were admitted into and their stages depending on how good they did appeared on the card.

Some students flashed honors cards around, others cheering about their basic magic classes, few peered in confusion and disappointment.

Sam looked down at his card to see large black letters appear, 'UDM'. "What?"

"What the fuck is a udm?" Andres huffed irritatedly, throwing his card to the ground.

"I'm not sure, but there's a sign in the trees with 'udm' on it.." Sam responded to the boy, motioning to the small sign pointing down a slightly overgrown trail.

"Alright students, off to the dining hall to get your uniforms!" Knightslinger grins as she waves them back inside.

As the teens all piled in to find their uniforms, the boys noticed two other students walking down the trail, the angry latina girl and the scared curly haired boy Sam met in line. "Should we go together?" He asked awkwardly, smiling to the stranger shyly as he scratched his neck.

The boy nodded quietly, as sad smile on his face as he signaled for Sam to lead the way down the crusty looking trail.

They carefully walked down the overgrown trail, a peaceful silence fallen over them. "You think this is us?" Sam asked curiously, peering down at the rotting wood door in the ground, receiving a skeptical glance from the quiet boy.

Without another word, Sam reached out and pulled the door open. They both leaned forward, peering down into a dimly-lit room. It took a moment for their eyes to adjust, but as they did they could see the room was musty and the walls were covered in pipes, the room not having much school supplies other than some old desks. There they saw the two students from earlier slumped over their seats, quite unhappily.

"Boo!" A voice came from behind them, startling them. Sam and Andres stumbled forwards, tripping over each other's feet and tumbling down the narrow stairs into the darkened classroom below. They landed with a thud on the hard concrete floor, groaning in pain and confusion.

As their eyes got used to the poorly lighted room, they could make out the shape of the man descending the narrow stairs, a grin still plastered on his face. "Sorry about that, boys" the old guy from earlier smiled down on them, not sounding too apologetic. "I just wanted to give you a little scare."

the two exchanged confused glances, unsure of what to make of the strange man in front of them. "Um, thanks..." Sam scoffed sarcastically, moving his hair out of his face.

"Well, here's your uniforms." He deadpanned, dropping the two sets onto them as they still laid on the cold ground. "Take a seat."

Sam and Andres looked at each other sharing an odd judgmental gaze, shrugging their shoulders as they helped each other up clumsily.
