-Melody-
The ringing, the horrible ringing that signaled another dreaded day.
I sit up groaning as I rub the sleep from my eyes and turn off the alarm. I swing out of my bed and feel my blanket fall to the ground near my feet, but I just march over to the closet. I lazily grab a shirt that had a smile on it saying 'free hugs! Just kidding don't touch me' and I grab a pair of old baggy jeans.
Once I believed I was ready and had the necessities for school. I picked up my bag and swung it over my shoulder as I made my way over to my door. I grabbed the handle and felt my handle print in it and I immediately hit my head against the door in anger. I continues hitting my head against the door,"Damn it. It wasn't a dream." I sighed and opened the door.
I lightly went down the steps as I tried to listen for anyone in the house, nope mom was at work. I pull out my phone and my breath hitches when I realize I'm gonna be late to school. I quickly run to the front door and speed out the house. probably leaving the front door wide open.
Once I had reached the . She stood up and kept running. She looked at her watch and cursed. Three minutes left. She ran as fast as she could and her shoes squealed when she took a fast took as the street corners.
When she finally made it to school she was a minute late and cursing as she ran up the school stairs. She ran past the office and through the students who were obviously skipping. She dashed to Mr.Williams classroom. She ran at the table unable to slow down and she bashed her stomach right into the table, she took a deep breath and sat down at the table. Luna looked at her smirking a bit.
Melody proceeded to not speak of this the whole class. While her gut throbbed.
Later on in Mr. White's class she was sitting in the back with her head down. At the desk across from her a boy, who she thinks is named Jackson, sat there looking emotionless as always. Next to her a girl with purple hair sat, Vivian she believed. Sadly this was the only class Melody and Luna didn't have together. Vivian looked at Melody silently then spoke quietly," Hi" Melody looked at her for a second then spoke,"Hello." Vivian smiled and introduced herself,"I'm Vivian and this is my brother Jackson." Melody nodded, proud that she remembered their names,"I'm Melody." They sat in silence for a moment till Vivian spoke again,"Nice to meet you." Melody smiled,"Right back at you."
The rest of class was followed by an awkward silence that no one seemed to be able to fill.
Melody sat there silently trying to see the similarities between Vivian and Jackson. Vivian had blue eyes, Jackson had grey. Vivian had purple hair, Jackson had Blond. Vivian was shy, while Jackson just seemed to not like people. There seemed to be no similarities. Maybe like those twins that are the exact opposite of each other. (I'm sorry I forgot the word and google was working against me)During the class Melody felt a tingling in her hand and she started to panic as ice crawled up her arm. She pulled her hoodie out of her bag and put it on the cover it. She wore the hoodie for the rest of the day cause the ice wouldn't go away.
At the end of the day after Luna and Leo had gone home, Luna was still wearing the hoodie. In 95 degree weather, and wearing a hoodie. Melody was loosing her mind. Something in a tree caught her eye. A- a Lemur? Yes. A lemur! There was a lemur sitting in a tree! Melody blinked and rubbed her eyes, then looked again. It was gone. Melody was loosing her mind. She quickly got home before she over heated.
At home she was once again sitting silently on her bed trying not to touch anything. She got a text. Obviously she had to answer.
She picked up her phone and she had a text from Luna,"Hey! Watcha doin?" Melody started thinking of comments like,"Oh you know the usual! Trying to keep myself from burning down the house or freezing it." She decided against it and sent,"Nothing much, you?" No response. Melody got annoyed. Melody sat down her phone and went downstairs to get a snack.
Once she came back she had multiple messages from Luna,"Sorry my phone powered down!" And,"Please forgive me!" "You're mad aren't you?" "I'm sorry!" Melody responded quickly,"I'm not mad I was just getting some chips." Then Luna responded with,"Thank goodness."
Melody proceeded to forget about the fact she could burn down the house.
Melody continued to unpack the boxes in her room. Soon enough her room started to look like the one from her home. Or so. Home yet left. Melody sighed as she hung up that last shirt in her closet and closed her closet. Melody looked at the clock and was shocked to see that it was 11:30.
She launched onto her bed and got under the covers after turning off the lights. Hopefully her mom hadn't seen the light from under her door. She didn't want to get in trouble. (I swear I feel bad that this is gonna be the least of her worries quite soon)
Melody sat lying awake for the longest time as she counted how many times the shadow got cut from her blinds blocking the light to the lamppost.
Soon enough her eyes grew tired and she fell asleep.
